The Very Hungry Caterpillar

In Room 2 this week, our phonological awareness learning has been based around the theme of ‘food’.

On Monday, we read the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. At the end, we tried to remember all the foods which appeared in the book. In the afternoon, we decided to make our own caterpillars using clay. The clay was wet and very messy but we had lots of fun in the process. We are going to paint them next week to look exactly like the caterpillar from the book.

We have also been completing lots of fine motor activities to get our fingers, hands and wrists ready for writing. Some of our mark making this week was also based on the caterpillar story.

On Tuesday for our writing we decided to take inspiration from the book and write about our favourite fruit. We drew fantastic line drawings and added colour to make them more realistic. We then spoke about why those were our favourite fruits. It made us very hungry.

On Thursday 24th September we would like to invite you to our ‘Learning Showcase’. This is an opportunity for you to come into our class to see our learning environment and complete some ‘Target Tasks’ with us. This will take place from 13:40-14:40. We look forward to seeing some of you there.

Have a lovely weekend everyone! 🙂
