Room 13’s last update of the term.

Hello all,

We’ve had a very hardworking term and are all looking forward to the Easter break.

We’ve had a revision week for Spelling and have been practising our previous phonemes from the last few months. All groups have been working on a new class novel called the Hodgeheg and have been focussing on using the page number in the question to help us find missing words and answer questions. For Writing we went back to improving sentences. We used a riddle from Mrs Calder’s book as inspiration to add adjectives, openers and added an ending to the story. I’ve attached a photo of SM’s letter to Mrs Meechan from last week.

In Numeracy we have been working on adding on hours and half an hour to work out when a film finished from a given start time. We’ve also been trying to make amounts of money using as few coins as possible.

In Science, we created a poster this week that had one of the senses spotting a possible danger and what we could do next. For example, if you hear the fire alarm you’d leave the building and call 999.

For HWB, we made posters with calming strategies that we could use in school or at home. We had a great variety of useful and sensible suggestions. For P.E. we had some children running activities this week to give them a chance to lead an activity.

Finn chose to have a football dribbling section followed by shooting.

Kaylah chose football dribbling and a football reaction time game she has played before with her team.

Haniya chose games with skipping ropes.

Peyton chose games with hula hoops.

All four children enjoyed leading their groups and having extra responsibility. This is something we’ll continue into term 4 so others can have a turn.

Enjoy the holidays,

Mr Dalling.
