Dear parents/carers,

On Thursday 21st March we will be celebrating world downs syndrome day by taking part in the “Lots of Socks” campaign. We are encouraging children and staff to choose some socks that are going to get noticed! They might be mismatched socks or your craziest and most colourful socks, whatever takes your fancy!

During week beginning 25th March we will be taking part in Autism Acceptance week. During this week children will be learning about Autism Awareness in their classrooms. We would like to invite parents and carers into the school on Wednesday 27th March at 2pm for a coffee afternoon, donations will be accepted for NAS (National Autistic Society). On Thursday 28th March we are asking children and staff to come to school as colourful as possible, you may want to choose one colour or dress in every colour of the rainbow.

This year we are supporting Kilbride Hospice. Faye Armitage from the hospice is coming in to school to speak at assemblies during week beginning the 13th May. The following week she will be coming back to school during health week and bringing the hospice mascot, Hope. On Thursday 23rd May we will be taking part in Hospice Heroes Day, which is a day for the pupils to celebrate the heroes in their life, whether it is a superhero, family member, celebrity role model or character! Staff and pupils are invited to bring in a donation for the Hospice in return for dressing up as their hero! Faye asked me to let parents know about an event they have coming up called, “Jog with Your Dog” I have attached a poster with further information.

Week beginning 20th May is also health week, look out for further announcements.

Lots to look forward to and celebrate.

Mrs Cowie (DHT, ASN)
