Remembrance Day

Today in Room 24 we learnt about Remembrance Day.

We discussed what remembrance day is and its roots in the First World War. The pupils also shared thier knowledge about how the Poppy links to the First World War and how it has become a symbol of Remembrance.

“Poppies were the only flower able to grow on the fields in France after the War” – Nico

We then took part in an art activity and began to create the components to our new Poppy Installation, inspired by the installation at The Tower of London for the wars centenary.

Our Head Pupils, Innes and Evie also represented our school at the Remembrance service in Cambuslang this morning.

“We got to place a poppy and a cross at the memorial” – Evie.

We had a peaceful afternoon in Room 24 in the spirit of Remembrance day.
