Room 15 – Moon Dust

As part of our 1960’s topic, Room 15 have been learning about the 1969 moon landing. Today, we learned about reglioth (aka… Moon Dust!)

To mimic the formation of moon dust on the moon’s surface we used meteorites (rocks), collected from outside, and collided them with the moon rock (sugar cubes) in a paper cup. The results showed that when meteorites collide with rocks on the moon, sharp and sticky regolith is formed. Moon dust sticks to surfaces as it is electrically charged… but our sugar was just sticky!
