In our book “The Girl of Ink and Stars” the main characters find themselves lost in an underground maze of tunnels that lead them to the heart of the Island of Joya.
In order to appreciate the complexity of this the pupils in Room 24 were tasked with designing their own maze. Part of the challenge was to make their maze tricky enough to take 2 minutes to solve.
They planned and drew the mazes independently on paper.
They then joined up into groups, discussing and deciding on one maze to focus on.
We then went outside where the pupils used chalk to scale up and draw their mazes in the playground!
They were fantastic and definitely tricky enough to take 2 minutes to solve!
