We are delighted to offer young musicians the opportunity to take part in a series of Jazz Workshops at City Halls, Glasgow this March. Led by our expert instrumental instructors, these sessions will introduce students to a variety of jazz styles, including swing, bebop, Latin, Afro-Cuban, and more. Participants will develop their understanding of jazz idioms, learn to play by ear, and explore jazz harmony and theory—breaking down the barriers that can often make these concepts feel intimidating to beginners.
The workshops provide a fantastic opportunity to learn in a supportive group setting, surrounded by instrumentalists at different stages of their musical journey. This is a safe, judgement-free space where students can confidently explore new elements of music-making.
Following these sessions, students may be invited to further develop their skills by joining the Glasgow Schools Big Band next session. This exciting opportunity allows young musicians to perform a diverse and dynamic programme of jazz and modern music alongside some of Glasgow’s most talented young performers.
By taking part in these workshops, students will connect with the rich history of their instrument and open their ears to an exciting new world of musical possibilities.
