Concert Bands

Our concert band pathway includes Concert Band and Symphonic Wind Band. These groups are for brass, woodwind and percussion players and form part of the wider progression route towards Glasgow Schools’ Symphony Orchestra.

Who it’s for

These groups are for young people who play:

• woodwind
• brass
• percussion

Concert Band Grade 1 – 3

Symphonic Wind Band Grade 4+

What happens

Pupils rehearse as part of a concert band, developing ensemble skills, musical confidence and performance experience with a wider wind and percussion group.

Where and when

Venue: City Halls, 87 to 101 Albion Street, Glasgow, G1 1LH.

How progression works

Progression through the concert band pathway is not automatic. Each group requires the development of specific musical and ensemble skills, and tutors and conductors will support pupils when they are ready for the next step towards Glasgow Schools’ Symphony Orchestra.
