
Pipe Band
The Glasgow Schools’ Pipe Band brings together talented young musicians from across the city to perform traditional and contemporary pipe band music. Pupils rehearse weekly, develop their skills and take part in concerts and events.
Who it’s for
The pipe band pathway includes two groups.
Senior Pipe Band is for:
- pipers
- pipe band drummers, including snare, bass and tenor
Entry is by teacher recommendation.
Junior Pipe Band is for:
- pipers
- drummers
- chanter players.
It is open to pupils from P7 upwards who can confidently play Teribus and Corriechoillie’s Welcome.
What happens
Pupils rehearse weekly, develop their musical and ensemble skills, and take part in concerts and events representing Glasgow CREATE.

How progression works
The junior and senior groups support pupils at different stages of development. Teacher recommendations and readiness help determine when pupils move into the senior group.
