Creativity and Expressive Arts Transforming Education

Glasgow CREATE supports Primary, Secondary and Early Years establishments across the city to provide high-quality learning experiences and opportunities for children and young people through creativity and the Expressive Arts.

We support schools to transform learning and teaching through innovation, creativity and inspirational practice across the five Expressive Arts: Art & Design, Dance, Drama, Film & Screen and Music.

CREATE builds the confidence, knowledge and skills of practitioners through high-quality professional learning, curriculum guidance, resources, partnerships and opportunities for children and young people. Glasgow’s Framework for Expressive Arts supports a creative, progressive and skills-based approach to learning and teaching, alongside additional support and resources in areas including Music Technology.

Established in January 2016 by Glasgow City Council Education Services, CREATE works to raise the profile and impact of creativity and the Expressive Arts across the city. Through learning and teaching, professional learning, partnerships, performances, projects and citywide opportunities, we support schools to improve outcomes for children and young people and ensure creativity is at the heart of learning.

Glasgow’s Framework for Expressive Arts, teaching resources and professional learning materials can be accessed through the CREATE website.
