Two of the Transition boys were Successful Learners this week when they were challenged with numeracy language. They had to follow cue cards describing where to place balloons. The boys did very well and had great fun whilst completing their work. Well done!
Responsible Citizens – Energy Audit
Continuing their good work from the Climate Conference, the Transition class were Responsible Citizens when they complied the data from the Whole School Energy Audit. This data will be shared at Pupil Council next week.
Bacon and eggs were the order of the day when half of the Transition class took part in their practical cookery lesson. There were all Confident Individuals when they chose a healthier way to prepare bacon (grill) and eggs (scrambled). They used the hot grill very safely and microwaved the eggs. Some pupils used the switches to help start and stop the microwave so that the eggs were cooked to perfection. Only one complaint – Mr Nicoll never saw a scrap of bacon or eggs!
The Transition class took some time out from their busy week to reflect on their first term of 2021-2022. They were all Effective Contributors sharing their views clearly and confidently. Well done everyone!

Successful Learners – Numeracy
The Transition class had some more sweets to sort into groups this week. They were Successful Learners when they made rows of sweets to compare numbers. We discovered that the split of sweets in a Heroes packet is fairly even. As usual, the sweets that no-one likes were present in the highest number (toffee eclairs – yuck!), and there was one solitary Twirl.
Fireworks in the Snowdrops
Successful Learners Effective Contributors
The Snowdrops have enjoyed some fireworks related activities this week. There was lots of messy fun when we used straws, paint and glitter to create some lovely firework effect pictures. We also painted our hands red and yellow and pressed them onto black paper to make beautiful bonfires. We enjoyed some sparkly playdough fun and made our own rockets from 2d shapes. Fireman Sam also reminded us of how to stay safe on Bonfire Night!
Pine class welcome in November.
Our Eco Vice Captain was being a responsible citizen and showing her support for COP26.
SQA Numeracy is always better fun when there is Dominoes involved!!!
Counting up and making choices – what successful learners we are!!
SQA Baking – we were voting on what we are going to make, will it be pizza, scones, cupcakes or chocolate chip cookies???
And the winner was Chocolate Chip Cookies!!!
In Literacy we are still working on the Letter D – this week we made Doughnuts(not real ones!!) for out Alphabet Books.
Lots of careful ripping, sticking and of course glittering!!
Remember, remember the 5th of November! Fireworks night soon, we make some cool pictures, using a different art technique – effective!!!
We have been responsible citizens and keeping ourselves informed via Global Goals online.
Thursday was a lovely afternoon so we went outside to the playground.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Bonfire Night
Confident Individuals Successful Learners
The Moonbeams enjoyed learning about Bonfire night. The children chose to create cupcakes in the shape of a bonfire and stamped fireworks with paint colours. The children were all very engaged in these activities and enjoyed tasting the cakes.
