50 Things – Rain Gauge

Effective Contributors       Responsible Citizens        Successful Learners

The Snowdrops all showed interest in creating rain gauges using recycled plastic bottles.  They responded well to fun water play activities, making lots of rain using our class watering cans.  It has been raining a lot lately and we have also experienced playing in the rain; splashing in puddles is fun!  We have visited our school garden and found places to put our rain gauges.  We will keep checking them to see how much rain has fallen.

Eco/Sustainable Global Goal 3 – Rainbow Wraps (Good Health and Wellbeing)

Successful Learners and Responsible Citizens

As part of our health and wellbeing global goal task, the Sunflower’s loved making their own rainbow wraps at cookery time.  All pupils were able to choose the fruit and vegetables they would like and roll them into their wrap.  Most pupils were able to touch, chop and prepare the foods and some pupils were able to name and taste the ingredients too.   Each child also enjoyed food related games. Well Done Sunflowers!

IDL: Feeding the birds

Confident Individuals     Responsible Citizens        Effective Contributors

During a theme lesson the children made bird feeders using pipe cleaners and cereal. The children worked hard to hook the cereal on to the pipe cleaners and then molded them to create different shapes. During our outing to Kay Park this week, the children hung the bird feeders on a tree and next week we will go back to see how much the birds have eaten.
