Willowbank School, KilmarnockAll the boys joined up with other classes in the secondary department and had a lot of fun to end a great Friday. over the course of the week everyone in transition have been Successful Learners and deserved some time to have a lot of fun keeping the Fairtrade theme going. The afternoon was rounded off with a conga, just the perfect way to end a Friday. Have a good weekend everyone.
Continuing the Fairtrade theme, the boys in Transition participated in a hunt for a monkey that had been spotted in the school. They followed a set of clues and were Responsible Citizens going around the school working as a team. In the end they found the monkey in the sensory room (some less keen than others) and were all given a Fairtrade banana for their snack.
All boys in Transition were Effective Contributors on Thursday making some millionaires shortbread to enter the Fairtrade Bake Off competition in school. Unfortunately we didn’t win but we all certainly thought it was worthy of a medal.
It was the turn of the Transition boys to present their assembly to the rest of the secondary department. They were all Confident Individuals when carrying out their own tasks to make their assembly the best it could be. Here you can see Oliver passing out Fairtrade chocolate to all his friends at assembly on Wednesday.
In Preparation for world book day, the Transition boys have been choosing some books to read and review. All boys have written their own reviews. Patrick has started writing his own story and Hayden has done a presentation on his favourite book as well. Well Done Boys

We loved today’s fairtrade monkey hunt. We had to follow ‘I spy…’ clued that led us around the school and we found 10 different fairtrade items. At the end of the hunt, we were very surprised to find a cheeky monkey hiding in our sensory room!!! The monkey looked cheeky but was kind enough to share some bananas with us.

The Beech class enjoyed another fab day of Fairtrade fun. We went on a monkey hunt, make our own Fairtrade lemonade and played Fairtrade games with our secondary friends.

We loved playing lots of fairtrade themed games to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight. We played fairtrade themed corners, completed a fairtrade jigsaw race and played a pass the banana relay.

The Moonbeams class chose to make chocolatey chocolate chip cookies for our fairtrade bake off entry. We thought they tasted yummy!
Sadly we didn’t win, but it was fun taking part.
We have been learning about Fairtrade this week. We had a Fairtrade assembly by the Snowdrops. We were confident individuals in making our own special Fairtrade delight for the Fairtrade Bake Off yesterday. We made cake pops with ‘rice krispies’ and made them look like sunflowers. The boys were fabulous at this. They waited their turn and listened to instructions. We even made extra so the we all could take one home.

Today was our whole school Fairtrade day. We went to the hall and played fairtrade corners and pass the banana. We were also very lucky and had a fairtrade hunt. We had a huge surprise at the end when we met a monkey in our school sensory room. He danced with us. We had great fun.
