Stars Stone Painting

Mrs Westerman and her family have been painting stones to decorate their garden. They collected large stones, washed them, then painted colourful pictures and patterns on them. Afterwards they varnished them so that the rain would not wash the paint away. Which one is your favourite? Why don’t you try painting some.

Fun in the sun

Hello Snowdrops!

We’ve been enjoying lots of sunny weather and it’s good fun to play outside, but we must remember to stay safe.  Here are some photos of what we all need to do to stay safe in the sunshine.

Can you find – Mrs Brown with a sun?  Miss Kelly with her hat on?  Miss Taylor drinking some water?  Mrs Johnstone with her sun cream?  Mrs Collins wearing her sunglasses?

Have fun in the sun Snowdrops and stay safe!  We miss you all!

Improvised Story Telling

Hi everyone!

Beech ladies here – We have created a short story in video format based upon an activity we have done lots in class.

For this activity, we split into groups and each group is given the responsibility of deciding a key part of a story to help create it. For example, one group or pupil will have a selection of characters, another pupil or group may have some scenes or settings to choose for the story and other groups or pupils will have story problems, solutions and endings to choose from. The idea is to encourage us to use our thinking caps and listening skills (as well as improvisation skills!) to build an imaginative and fun story. This was our version after we rehearsed it a little! Mrs Wilson chose some characters, Mrs Howie made up some settings, Mrs Brady thought of some dilemmas for our characters and then Miss Woodburn thought of solutions for the dilemmas and finally, Mrs Shields gave us our ending.

(P.S The camera flipped after the video downloaded which is why we appear to point in the wrong direction!)

Anyway, we hope it makes you smile 🙂 #Staysafe

Sensory Fun

Here are some sensory activities to try throughout the week 🙂

  • Create your own sensory bottles using an empty water bottle. Add glitter, rice, pasta or any other resources you have in your house to the bottle, then carefully pour some water out of a jug. Screw the lid on and shake!

Here are some ideas 🙂

  • Make gloop by mixing 2 cups of cornflour with 1 cup of water. You can add a few drops of food colouring or some glitter too. Enjoy exploring how it feels, or practise writing letters and numbers.

  • Squirt two different colours of paint into a zip lock bag. Seal the bag and use your fingers to mix the colours together. What colour did you make?

Have fun!

Fine Motor Skills Activities for little fingers

Good morning

I hope that you are all well and staying safe.

This weeks PE activity can be done indoors and will help with improving fine motor skills.

Fine Motor skill is the co-ordination of small muscles, in movements – usually involving the synchronisation of hands and fingers- with the eyes.

With the improvement of these skills, a child is  able to improve life skills such as  feeding oneself, dressing, coping with buttons, zippers, holding a pencil and many other day to day activities.

To practise some activities please check out the link below.

Have Fun.

Stars Sensory Sound Bottles

Mrs Gardner has been busy trying an activity from this weeks class challenge. I have made a selection of sensory sound bottles. They were easy to make and all sounded so different. Why not try making some for yourself.

Drawing Challenge!

In class, the Bluebells have enjoyed doing step by step drawing challenges. We have created fruit baskets, houses, penguins and gingerbread men.

We thought since it is Digidabble week and we are focusing on using technologies that we could attempt a drawing session at home using YouTube.

The ladies in the Bluebells class tried it out this morning and these are our attempts below.

Can you guess who we drew?

Yes Mowgli from The Jungle Book!

Can you try it at home?

This video shows how to draw Mowgli (we paused and played throughout as it is fast!). The artist uses paints but we used felt tip pens.

All of the pupils love these sessions in class and find them very relaxing and calming. Some pupils like to watch an adult draw a line and they make a similar attempt on their own paper (so adults and/or siblings get involved). Whereas other pupils prefer the security of a light hand over hand approach.

Give it a try and we would love to see your attempts on the blog. Have fun! 😀

In the Pink..

Good Morning Pine Class – how are you all today?? 🌲

This week we are going to be continuing with our Rainbow Theme🌈

And the colour

🐷💗🏩🎀🩰

PINK!!!

Below are some activities for you to do if you would like – remember to send us some photos or put in some comments.

Signing and Singing🎶

First a little music with Fairy Sarah

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RXlLgEimO8

Were you all singing and signing – Wilson was!!!

Give a Socially Distancing Hug!!💕

Mia, a friend’s daughter, did a wonderful thing for her Granny last week. She hasn’t been able to see her to give her a hug so she decided that drawing round herself on a large piece of cardboard and colouring in it was the next best thing! I saw the photo her Granny looked very happy!!

So perhaps some of you would like to do this – draw around your body or your hand,  and then colourfully decorate – make someone smile!

Thanks Mia!!

Art🎨

Chalk painting was an activity I tried out last Friday with my neighbours’ children – Amy and Adam – they are keeping me entertained during the Lockdown with their chatter and singing while they are out in their garden.

I mixed up the Chalk Paint ready for us to use, we has separate paint brushes and maintained Social Distancing while we did this.

2 Tablespoons of Cornflour, 4 Tablespoons of Water and Food Colouring – I made 4 different colours Pink, Blue, Green and Yellow.

You brush or splash the paint onto the pavement and then it dries and looks like chalk – and the rain will wash it away – hopefully it won’t rain for a wee while!!

So if this is an activity you try please send us some photos!!

Cookery🥥

This week recipe is Coconut Ice – If you like something sweet and are able to eat coconut, I have managed to get all the ingredients at the supermarket which was a bonus!! I am going to make this at the end of the week.

Comets- May 11th

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Here are some more activities you can try this week

Garden Writing

Collect as many sticks, rocks and leaves as you can! Now practice making your letters, or writing words with them! Can you spell your name and take a picture of it?

Once you’ve done all your writing can you use your materials to  make a picture?

Bottle music

Set up a row of bottles with varying amounts of liquid and then blow across the openings to hear the different tones. How many different noises can you make?

Go on a Safari

There are loads of amazing animals in our Jungle Book story, but they all live so far away! Luckily these zoos will let you watch their animals on your computer. Have a look at all the different animals, can you find any from our story?
