Earth Day Part 2

This morning we came into class and found our beautiful Earth sun-catchers reflecting the colour onto the carpet.

Our bird feeders were ready to hang up in the garden this morning. The birds will have some lovely treats this weekend.  If there is any food left next week we will do some bird watching in the garden.

We will be responsible citizens and make more food for the birds when they finish  their food.

Earth Day in Oak

Today we celebrated Earth Day by having the lights off all day and using minimum electricity.

We enjoyed an afternoon in the garden, we made an Earth Sun-catcher and took it in turns to find the sun and make the colours reflect onto the ground.

We have been responsible citizens and helping the birds find some food.  We made bird feeders so the birds can have a lovely breakfast and dinner.

We also planted some sunflower seeds, fingers crossed we are successful this year and we manage to grow some beautiful sunflowers.

Together Again in Oak

We are very happy to have almost the everyone within the Oak class back for their first full week!

We have jumped straight back into our usual routine and back on top of things with a very busy week filled with lots of hard work.

They have all been confident individuals in all the tasks that have been set.

In literacy we have completed lots of listening and comprehension tasks, along with working on our reading and forming sentences in a logical order.

This week in numeracy we have been recapping and checking our knowledge on our time and money work.

We love to be very active in the Oak class and we have enjoyed lots of sensory movement breaks to help us refocus between all our hard work tasks.  Here we have two very flexible young men taking part in our yoga session.  We do yoga every day before we have lunch.

This week as part of our Health and Well-being work and Rights Respecting School we have been thinking about talking about what makes a good friend.  Everyone confidently identified their friend then gave some great answers as to why they are their friend.

We have been working on our individual activities that have been set for us to help improve our fine motor skills and hand grip.

Happy Easter

We enjoyed a playing balloon volleyball with our class friends, some of our boys are working on their fear of balloons.  They did very well playing this game, and were effective contributors when working as a team to keep the balloon off the ground.

We made some Easter masks, we were successful learners when completing this task.  We were working on our literacy to colour our masks.  We were listening to a three step instruction and also our fine motor skills.

We enjoyed taking part in some Easter art activities, everyone in the Oak class hope that you all have ‘A CRACKING EASTER’.

We also had to work on our reading skills, we cracked open our eggs and read the action. We enjoyed performing these to music, we found the wheelbarrow fun but hard work!

Then we had an egg hunt in the class, some of the class friends enjoyed sitting watching the hunt and waiting on the chocolate eggs being brought to them to eat! Team work, I think!

Have a lovely Easter and we look forward to being back together soon!

Highlights of a Week in Oak

This week was National Reflection Day, we looked back over the past year and spoke about what we are thankful for. It was confident individuals all round thinking and sharing what and who they are thankful for.

In music we were effective contributors playing along to a song called ‘Bringing us Together’.

This week we have enjoyed taking part in lots of Easter art activities. We were concentrating on staying within the lines and taking our time on each section of our piece of art.

We have been getting back into our hard work jobs, we took part in our time work and we were successful learners.

Fun Week in the Oak Class

This week in the Oak class we welcomed back some more pupils to our blended model.  We are counting down the days until we are all back together as a whole class.

This week we celebrated St Patrick’s Day and Red Nose Day.

Everyone was also successful learners during our literacy tasks.

Our Theme for Red Nose Day was using laughter as means to help us all through difficult times.  Lockdown has been hard for everyone, and we need to think about what we enjoy doing and what makes us happy.  We were effective contributors and shared with our friends the activities that make us laugh.

Some of the answers were hearing other people laughing and the others were listening to our favourite stories being read in an animated way.

8th March Art Ideas :)

Good Morning. I hope everyone is well and keeping safe.

Please find below a few art activities.

Dream Catchers!

  • Cut out the middle of a paper plate and punch some holes around the edge. You might need an adult to help with that part.
  • Use paints or crayons to decorate the plate.
  • Thread wool into the punched holes and attach some beads or feathers.
  • What else could you use to decorate the dream catcher?

Recycled Flower Art

  • Can you create some flowers, using recycled materials?
  • Feel the materials. Do you feel different? Can you describe the feeling?
  • Remember… Reduce. Reuse. Recycle!

Mrs Macdonald.
