Welcoming the New Year in the Pine Room!

We are all very happy to be back at school with our friends.

We have been working on our addition skills for our SQA Numeracy Unit by using the large building blocks, playing Dominoes and watching some number videos we especially like Addition with Rodd.

Counting with Rodd, Adding 2 to 2

SQA Baking this week involved making some shortbread for sensory play, we mixed it up, rolling it and stretched it and squashed it – it smelt really good!!

We have been successful learners in literacy concentrating on the letter ‘H’ making the sound, looking for words that start with that letter, and then we made some lovely Horse pictures for our alphabet books.

SQA Communication we have started studying Inside Out, so we watched a little bit of the film and we are going to decorate plates to look like all of the characters, starting with ‘JOY’

Our IDL Theme this term is Scotland, we are reading Hamish McHaggis and the Edinburgh Adventure, we learned some more Scottish Words and made Haggis Pictures, using different colours and textures of wool.

Even while doing your MOVE you can’t get out of doing your Art work!!

We played a game of Haggis Drive, using our new big dice.

Who’s Haggis will be completed first?

Successful Learners – ILP work

There was a hive of activity in the Transition class when everyone was working on their ILP targets and showing that they were Successful Learners. We had a group setting the clock to show when programmes start on the BBC. Mr Nicoll thought he could pick awkward times but everyone successfully demonstrated them on their clock faces. We had success with lace tying, fine motor skills and writing motor skills. We even had some great vocalisation from our resident Tenor.  Well done everyone, a superb effort by all.
