Today we explored what different dinosaurs eat. We were successful learners and sorted the dinosaurs into groups of ‘carnivores’, ‘herbivores’ and ‘omnivores’ using a Venn diagram.

Today we were confident individuals and used Augmented Reality to learn about different dinosaurs. We looked through the iPad camera and saw different kinds of dinosaurs walking around our class!
We were successful learners by applying our knowledge to label diagrams showing the features of different dinosaurs.
We enjoyed comparing our toys and games to those of children in medieval times.
We were confident individuals participating in different games including ring toss, hide and seek, and bean bag toss with our peers.

A group of Snowdrops headed out into the garden to see what they could find. A Gruffalo had passed through on his way to Glasgow and he had left some numbered footprints on the ground…but some were missing. The Gruffalo had visited lots of places in the garden and the Snowdrops had fun collecting the numbered footprints and slotting them in order along the number line. Along the way they also found some of the other animals from the Gruffalo story and did a great job of counting out how many they had found. Back in class, the Snowdrops continued practising their numeracy skills with the Glasgow Gruffalo and friends.
We were successful learners during our theme work and create a map of Scotland, labelling main cities. We then added pictures to mark some famous Scottish landmarks too.
The Bluebells have been enjoying learning about life on a Scottish Island through Katie Morag stories. Today we learned about how people travel from an island to the mainland using a boat. We created our own foil boats and used a fan to make them sail across the water in our tuff tray. We enjoyed a little competitive boat race against our friends.
We have been exploring different jobs people may have. When reading the stories we have been exploring the jobs people have on the island. We were confident individuals and completed jigsaws matching people in their work uniform. We had to pick the correct head, body and legs to create a whole person. We also dressed up and were effective contributors and completed some jobs in the classroom. Some pupils had hi-vis vests on and put rubbish in the bin pretending to be bin men. We pretended to have a train the class and boarded the train to take us to the shop where we decided what we wanted to buy. We also dressed up and pretended to go to see the doctor and she used the phone to talk to her patients.
This week after reading some of the Katie Morag stories we matched some of the characters and places from the stories. All of the pupils were successful learners and able to glue either the pieces or the paper. Some were able to match picture to picture and some were able to match picture to word. They enjoyed the stories and we discussed each of the characters and the different places Katie Morag visited in some of the stories.

The Daisies class enjoyed reading “Greyfriars Bobby’s New Adventure” story. They were very interested to learn more about Bobby and enjoyed looking at pictures of his memorial statue in Edinburgh. We found out that people believe if you rub Bobby’s nose that it brings you good luck. We took turns rubbing Bobby’s nose for luck and made a tartan Greyfriars Bobby craft.

The Daisies class enjoyed watching a virtual tour of Edinburgh Zoo. We named all of the animals we could see and discussed some characteristics – what the elephants use their trunks for, what penguins like to eat etc.
We matched animals to their animal skins and sorted them into their correct habitats.
