* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS *
The Moonbeams class have begun learning about a few families living during the Stone Age. Their names are the Flintstones and the Rubbles. We have enjoyed watching short clips to introduce us to the characters and have learned all of their names and can sort them into the correct family trees.
Enjoying a wee cake or two…and some good company!!!
To finish a lovely week, the Transition boys took part in ‘The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ on behalf on McMillan Cancer Support. The boys were Responsible Citizens helping to raise money for such a good cause. The Transition boys enjoyed eating the muffins they had made on Thursday and, rumour has it, there was even some dancing to be enjoyed. Great fun all round!
In P.E. this week the Transition boys were Successful Learners as they worked on their balancing and throwing skills. Their challenges included standing on one leg for the longest, balancing a quoit on their heads and throwing and catching whilst doing all of the above! The boys rose to the challenge and finished off with a balancing whilst walking distance competition.
The Transition boys were Confident Individuals this week when they made muffins for the Macmillan Cancer Support ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’. The boys carefully measured out the dry mixture, the water and milk and cracked two eggs into the bowl before mixing well. The muffin mix was carefully spooned into paper cases and baked in a hot oven. The boys reported that they tasted very nice!
The Transition boys were Effective Contributors when they played ‘Shut the Box’ this week (Mr Nicoll’s favourite game!). They had to make their own dice from a template and add the correct number of dots. The boys then worked in pairs to try and roll combinations of numbers which corresponded to the numbers from two to twelve. The first team to complete this, shut the box.
This week has been quick and very busy. Some of us enjoyed being in for full days and have enjoyed all the fun activities. We have been looking at the letter and sound “S” this week. We did lots of activities about “S”. We enjoyed looking in Mr Tumble’s spotty bag for “s” and things beginning with “s”. We were finding magnetic letters in spaghetti, we made our own spiders and played with the fish swimming in the water.
We also had a special job to do. We had to get our foot painted to make something special for later in the year. All the Sunflower boys really enjoyed this and have tickly feet.
The Sungazers were confident individuals as we explored colour changing.

The Snowdrops have been out in our school playground gathering sticks. Everyone worked together finding small sticks that had blown onto the ground in the school garden. We managed to fill a whole tray! The Snowdrops used the sticks to create a house of sticks, just like the little pig had made in our story. All our houses are now on our class wall for everyone to see.
