Yesterday was World Book Day we started the day exploring lots of books. We were confident individuals handling the books with care and turning the pages. We went on a book hunt in the garden to find more books and enjoyed exploring these when we got back to class. We made bookmarks by making marks with crayons and some of the pupils were effective contributors collecting all the materials needed. The staff dressed up as characters from the Little Miss books so we did some Little Miss colouring and matching. We also enjoyed a lovely bookbug session exploring a new sensory book and we loved touching each page to feel the different textures.

We have started our brand new ‘Ancient Egypt’ topic in the Beech class!
We have already explored mummification and the pyramids as well as hieroglyphics!
Here are some of our favourite photos of us attempting to reconstruct the pyramids with different media during a STEAM session and going through the mummification process whilst learning about our internal organs!
Careers Week
*Successful Learners* *Responsible Citizens*
We’ve started looking at different jobs and careers that people do after they leave school. Today we were focusing on the skills that we have and compared them to the skills that are needed for different jobs. We each chose a job or career and completed some research about it to find out about pay, working hours, equipment and uniforms. We had to think hard about what skills or qualifications were needed for a job as well as our own skills and abilities and whether we would like to try the job we researched.
World Book Day with the Asteroids.
We had a lovely day celebrating books and sharing stories!
We looked at our favourite books from home and made confident choices of books to read from the class library. While we read books we did a scavenger hunt of story book items and ticked them off our list.
Our theme of the day was ‘Pirates Love Underpants’ and so we listened to the story and made a bookmark and pirate hat. We then decorated our own WBD cupcakes choosing our own icing colour and finished them off with cake toppers.
Some of us dressed up and the ladies dressed as the Pirates from ‘Pirates love Underpants’!!
