This week some of the children have had visits to the 3-5s garden to support them with their upcoming transition.

This week the children participated in book bug together singing songs and rhymes.

 

 

3-5s

A group of children have been using shapes in different ways to create models and pictures. Within this, some of them have been exploring patterns and symmetry.

In the garden, a few children worked together collecting and transporting earth. They used this to fill up holes in the garden where they have previously been digging.

Ali and Henry have been investigating puddles in the garden during the heavy rainfall.

A few children have been developing their number recognition and counting skills through playing games.

Darla-Jane and Ayva have been developing their mark making through drawing pictures.

In Bubble A, they have been engaging in lots of sensory play in the garden.

A few children have shown interest in dinosaurs using the figures within role-play.

Others have been challenging themselves creating a range of models   using wooden blocks. Hollie has shown a particular interest in castles.

A few children have been developing their independence skills using the water butt.

The children have been helping to develop and look after the garden through planting.

Children have had opportunities to develop their gross motor skills and manage their own risk through exploring larger apparatus for climbing and jumping.

This group of children were exploring shapes and numbers together.

A few children have been measuring out ingredients to create their own paint. They have used this to make their own marks.

3-5s

Bubble A

In Word Aware, the children were learning about the word long. Some children have been comparing heights with others and measuring different items around the garden.

In Abc and beyond, they were learning about the word joined meaning to come together. In the story the sheep joined one another.

A number of children have been exploring sensory play in different ways.

  

A few children have been using their imagination creating different objects using Lego bricks.

Alba and Jessica have been practising identifying numbers and counting out quantities of objects.

A couple of children used construction materials to create their own bike ramp.

 

Bubble B

In Word Aware they have been learning about the word habitat. They matched animals to their habitat.

In ABC and beyond they have been learning about the word pair meaning two of the same thing.

A few children have been putting together pairs of socks as they were all mixed up.

Children took turns to use the saw to cut up piping for the garden.

They worked together to create a piping wall which objects can travel through.

Both indoors and out, children have been investigating shapes. They have been learning the names of unfamiliar shapes, using shapes to build and create pictures. Others have been weaving ribbon through shapes.

A few children have shown interest in writing numbers.

Kane, Aniyah and Kash worked together with the dice creating their own game.

A few children have shown interest in learning how to use scales.

This group of children set up a garage for fixing bikes.

A number of children continue to show great interest in looking for and investigating mini beasts around the garden.

Big Noise music sessions

Usually the children participate in Big Noise music sessions in nursery but unfortunately the team are unable to come in to nursery at the moment. Some children have been exploring mark making using chalk.

A few of the children have shown interest in numbers pointing out and naming numbers that are familiar to them.

Children explore stories with others and independently.

Georgie has shown interest in shapes.

In the garden, children have been exploring opportunities for physical play developing their gross motor skills.

Through puzzles, children are developing their problem solving skills identifying where each piece goes and developing their fine motor skills too.

A few children have been engaging in role-play using small world figures and vehicles.

3-5s

Bubble A

Due to some children’s interest in space, in group time they have started to focus on the cow who fell to Earth as their new ABC and beyond story. This week they were learning about the word problem.

In Word Aware, the children have been learning about the word quick this week. They did different actions quick whilst other children guessed which action they were doing.

Both indoors and out, a number of children have been investigating water in different ways.

       

Fatimah, Eden and Hollie have been cooking and serving food in the mud kitchen.

Rebecca, Riley and Alba have been mark making using chalk.

Fatimah continues to show interest in making things. She used different materials to create a rocket.

A few children have been building using different construction materials.

This week, some children have been investigating numbers in different ways.

Bubble B

This week in group time, the children started to focus on their new ABC and beyond story. This week they learned about the word high as the frog jumped high.

In the water tray, a few children have been engaging in role-play using some of the characters to retell the story.

Other children used the story to draw pictures of tadpoles.

  

In Word Aware, some children have been learning about the word thick. They sorted different items into thick and not thick.

Kayden and Lyall used recycled objects to create their own rocket.

Other resources were provided for children to investigate different ways of creating robots.

In the garden, a group of children have been practising number recognition and counting by shooting water towards number targets.

Others have been counting out quantities of shells and counting skittles whilst playing bowling.

A few children have been sequencing numbers and trying to identify each number participating in jumping games.

Whilst roleplaying on the boat Rory noticed the boat was missing a flag. He gathered materials and worked with others to create a flag.

Jessica and Taylor looked at their learning journals together  looking at the photos and recalling some of the things they have been doing in nursery.
