Our prayers

We have been reading the Christian creation story in RME with Mrs Smith.

This week we wrote some prayers for the things in our lives for which we are thankful. Here are a few for you to read.

Thank you God for the rain,
Thank you God for making the park,
Thank you God for the sunshine,
Thank you God for making Guinea pigs.

Our Allotment

Our shed.

The P3S Superstars and the children from Mrs Finlayson’s room have taken on an allotment over beside the Saltire Sports Centre.

Now that the weather has improved a wee bit, we are hoping to begin working on it to start getting it ready for lots of planting. Mrs Finlayson has enlisted the help of some students from Angus College to help get it ready. They are going to build some raised beds to make it a bit easier for the children to work in.

We will be using this as a focus for our project in the last term. Keep checking back for news!

It needs a bit of work at the moment!

Maths Patterns

This week we have been talking about patterns in maths. We have looked at shape patterns, shape and colour patterns and number patterns.

Today we worked in groups of four. With a partner we had to make up a number pattern and then swap with the other pair in our group. We then had to add the next two numbers to the pattern and describe the rule we had used to find the numbers.

Mrs Stewart came around to listen to all the groups and thought that there were some really interesting conversations about number going on between us all.

Instructional Videos

Today we worked together to make some instructional videos on how to make our homemade toothpaste. We think we did a super job. We will be able to show them to other classes so they can make the toothpaste too!

Afterwards we were able to use this to write our instructions. We think the videos really helped us think about the importance of getting the instructions in the right order and not missing anything out.

Please have a look and leave us a comment if you can.

Note.  If you are having trouble viewing double click click on video and it will take you to You  Tube where they will play more easily.

Making toothpaste

Today we tried making our own toothpaste as part of our teeth topic. We used glycerine (to bind it together), bicarbonate of soda (fights off bacteria), salt (acts as an abrasive) and peppermint food colouring.

Mrs Stewart made a little tester but it was too salty. We reduced the amount of salt we used when we made our own and added more peppermint. We then tested it with our new toothbrushes. However, we all agreed it was MINGING (we have been talking about Scottish words this week!). We will be sticking to our usual toothpaste in future!

We don't think we'll be using this at bedtime!

1,000 visitors!

We have had 1,000 visitors to our blog. Thank you to everyone for looking and to everyone who takes the time to leave a comment. Keep stopping by to see what we are up to!

Our Art

Today, we finished off our snowflake pictures by adding tissue paper circles and snowflakes we had made from art straws. We have added them to our Antarctic Explorer role play area which is currently under contruction in our classroom.

We also started another art project which we will show you next week once it is finished!

Today Mrs Robb came to our classroom to pick the finalists for the Scots Poetry Competition to be held next week. Mrs Stewart was glad she didn’t have to choose because everyone was so good! Now you can listen too.
