Luss Primary performed their annual Pantomime on 10th of December to a packed Village Hall. This year the show was “Cinders” and all the children from P1 to P7 had a part to play. They all did a fantastic job!

One of Kirn Primary’s P7 pupils, Caleb McLeod, received a very surprising letter sent by no less than Professor Stephen Hawking himself! Professor Hawking was replying to a letter Caleb wrote at the end of last session to Professor Hawking as part of a P6 letter writing project.

Argyll Collection Writing Competition Winners 2015!
CAST is happy to announce that the following budding writers have won prizes in the 2015 Argyll and Bute Writing Competition, supported by Scottish Book Trust. Bowmore Primary’s Heavenly Nativity!
Our Round Church in Bowmore was buzzing on the evening of the 21st of December. Not only downstairs was full, but the upper seats were being taken as well! Our Nativity and Carols by Candlelight Service was being presented there this year. It seemed extra special and very fitting to hold our nativity in the Round Church. It was lovely to be greeted by our school flautists – they had very nicely set the tone for the evening and again played as we left after the service along with other members of the Primary Wind Band.

Christmas Jumpers
Toward Primary School held a Christmas Jumper Day on Tuesday 22nd December. We raised £24.00 which will be donated to the Clown Doctors at Hearts and Minds Charity.
Oh No They Didn’t, Oh Yes They Did!
With the Christmas holidays almost upon us, the children of St. Mun’s were joined by Strone, Innellan and Toward Primaries and really got into the festive spirit when they were treated to The Rainbow Theatre Group’s pantomime production, ‘Sleeping Beauty’.
The traditional fairy tale was retold by the wonderful cast, who had their entire audience, laughing, booing and singing popular ‘chart’ hits from beginning to end.
Castlehill Choir go Carolling!
Choir members from Primary 5, 6 and 7 performed a variety of Christmas songs at Auchinlee Care Home recently. Rona also played ‘Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer’ on her flugal horn. The residents and staff all enjoyed the Christmas carols and the visit from the choir.
Cooking Bus comes to OHS
On 7th December 2015, the Cooking Bus came to Oban High School. The Support Department and 80 Mainstream S2s were able to utilise the Bus with support from Jem and Sarah, the professional chefs on-board. The students thoroughly enjoyed their sessions on the bus where they cooked healthy meals with local ingredients. The staff went the extra mile to cater for all needs and allergies. In addition, teaching and support staff attended the training sessions from Oban High School: Support Dept; Health and Wellbeing; Science and Modern Languages. Castlehill Fairytale Land Nativity
Little Red Riding Hood called on her friends from Fairytale Land to put on a Nativity Show. She played the part of Mary, Goldilocks was Gabriel, the Three Little Pigs were the wise men and the innkeeper was the big bad wolf! Castlehill’s Primary one and two children dressed as characters from Fairytale Land and entertained a packed hall with this amusing Christmas musical.
Road Safety Calendar Success at Rothesay Primary
At Rothesay Primary we all love to take part in the Road Safety Calendar Competition. We know that there are lots of entries from across Argyll and Bute and are always very proud when our pupils get a Highly Commended or even win a prize! This year was no exception with 11 pupils receiving Highly Commended, two fourth, three second and one first prize! Congratulations to everyone that took part.
Rockfield Dances the Night Away!
Pupils from Primary 6 and Primary 7 took part in their annual ceilidh dance on the evening of Wednesday 16th December 2015. The children worked really hard in the weeks leading up to the ceilidh, learning many different traditional Scottish dances and working together as a team to make the evening a success. Pupils and staff at Strachur Primary came to school in their Christmas jumpers and accessories on Friday in aid of Save the Children. We raised £34.50 for the charity. Thank you everyone for your generosity!
The Christmas show Presented By Southend Primary
On Thursday the 10th of December Southend Primary and ELCC unit put on a play called ‘What a Star’ and ‘Christmas Is Forever’. ‘What A Star’ featured a small star called Leo who was bullied and laughed at because of his size, but God sent an angel who told Leo to be the star that shone above the stable where Jesus was lying in a manger full of hay. This resulted in Leo becoming the most special star of all time.

Dalintober Raises Funds for Salvation Army
Primary 1 and Primary 2/1 raised the grand total of £83 for The Salvation Army by selling personalised Minion calendars to the rest of the school.
St. Mun’s Children Boost Local Food Bank
While it is only natural for children to look forward to Christmas and to receiving presents from Santa, the children of St. Mun’s took time out this Advent Season to remember people less fortunate than themselves. The children were asked to donate one item of food, which could be put into a food parcel and delivered in time for Christmas to people who needed a little help this holiday season.
St Mun’s Nativity
Pupils and staff from St. Mun’s Primary School had a very busy time rehearsing for this year’s Christmas performance.
Each class took responsibility to learn and showcase a Christmas Carol after it became apparent that many of the old favourites were not familiar to younger pupils.
Bowmore Primary P4/5 Christmas Choir
This term our class practised singing Christmas songs and made a Christmas Choir. We sang lots of different songs. The songs were All Around the World, Away in a Manger, The Animals in the Stable, Jingle Bells, Christmas Dinner and Merry Christmas Everyone. We went down to the brilliant Co-op to sing our songs to the happy shoppers.
Strone Primary visit to Morrisons
The P5-7 class enjoyed a look behind the scenes at Morrisons store in Dunoon, as part of their Food For Thought project. Pupils were given a tour of the food preparation areas, and found out about local produce and food journeys. They were also given a front of house experience on the check-out! Afterwards the pupils managed to fit in some carol singing to raise funds towards their residential next summer.
