Our Round Church in Bowmore was buzzing on the evening of the 21st of December. Not only downstairs was full, but the upper seats were being taken as well! Our Nativity and Carols by Candlelight Service was being presented there this year. It seemed extra special and very fitting to hold our nativity in the Round Church. It was lovely to be greeted by our school flautists – they had very nicely set the tone for the evening and again played as we left after the service along with other members of the Primary Wind Band.
Everyone had worked hard as usual so thank you very much indeed – we had been learning lines and songs as well as carols. A huge thank you must go to our parents for supporting our children and helping them to prepare for this moment. Also, a special mention must go to an ex-pupil of ours, Millie Mitchell – an extremely talented musician who has given up her own time to practise and play the organ for us on the night.
Our professional P1/2 children presented the nativity in a very confident manner and were very ably supported by the rest of the classes who led the traditional carols. Our Pre-5 classes literally twinkled as they sang ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ in English and in Gaelic! We had a lovely mixture of English and Gaelic carols which sounded beautiful in the church.
We all left with a lovely Christmassy feeling of goodwill to all men – and women and children! Merry Christmas.
