All the children in Easdale Primary took part in a walking bus to the village of Ellenabeich and back to school to practise their road safety and support Brake road safety charity. Our safe walking and road safety posters made cars more aware and slow down to a safe speed.

Cardross Gala Day
Let The Battle Begin!
It was no ordinary Sports Day at Sandbank Primary as this year the children took part in a Highland Games competing in their Clans. The opening ceremony got the Games off to a great start. Led by pipers, the Clans waved their banners as they sang and marched to Highland Cathedral.
Then it was off to the competitions which included various running and jumping events, hammer throwing, shot put and of course tossing the caber!
Achahoish Beach Clean
We spent two afternoons cleaning rubbish off the beaches along our coast with the help of our mums and dads. We were joined by Lochgilphead P6&7 on Thursday afternoon. We had our packed lunches on the beach and it was so hot we got to paddle. We gathered 19 bags of rubbish together and we all got along fantastically. We would love you to come back again soon. It was a great day thanks to the sunshine and good company.

Achahoish Host Mid-Argyll Inter-School Sports Day
The sun shone, the sea breeze kept the midges away and we had the perfect day for inter-sports to take place. Ashfield, Glassary and Tayvallich came to our school to take part in a round-robin set of events and three flat races. Parents enjoyed tea and coffee and hot off the girdle pancakes served by our Parent Council. We all had great fun and thank you to Mrs Floyd and all the children, parents and family who came from other schools to our event.

INDIA CONNECTIONS
Port Ellen Primary 3&4 and 6&7 have been learning about India. In the topic we have had Glow Meets with teachers and students at Arwachin Bharti Bhawan School in Delhi in India. We got the chance to ask them questions about life in India. It was surprising that we have so much in common; they like TV like The Simpsons and Family Guy, music like Taylor Swift and films like James Bond, and their English was much better than our Hindi! We wanted to look at the differences in the festivals we celebrate. Continue reading INDIA CONNECTIONS
St. Joseph’s Help Clean up the Local Community!

They donned the relevant protective clothing and litter pickers and went off in search of their target….LITTER! The area of Kirkmichael benefited greatly with the children returning with happy smiles and reporting they’d cleaned up the area! En route the children and staff were met with some very happy residents who came out of their houses to say thanks!….That made the children smile even more!

Car Boot Sale at Dalmally Mart
“Dalmally, Taynuilt and Kilchrenan Primary Schools held a wonderful Car Boot Sale on Saturday at Dalmally Mart, raising over £1118 for their annual p6/7 trip to Lcohgoilhead. The sun shone on the ‘car boots’ and the stalls (causing some of the icing to slip off the cakes on the baking stall!) and a great time was had by all. The local fire brigade came along to help with the Car Wash, there was a Bottle Stall, Raffle and Baking stall as well as activities such as ‘Throw the Wet Sponge’ and a Duck Race.”

Well done to the football teams from St. Joseph’s, Hermitage, Cardross and Rhu for their efforts in the Challenge Cup competition. St. Joseph’s ran out worthy winners in the end and a great day was enjoyed by everyone involved. Thanks to the teachers and helpers for organising the teams and thanks to all the parents who turned up to cheer on the children. We are hoping to run the competition again next year and welcome any more schools from the area who wish to enter.

Glassary Primary Sponsored Cycle
Children, staff and parents from Glassary Primary School took part in a 10 mile sponsored cycle in Kilmichael Glen. The cycle was to raise money for the Lauren Currie Foundation who fund research into Vasculitis, a lung disease which affects a relative of a child in the school. After the cycle the whole school community had a soup and sandwich picnic in the sunshine. The soup had been made by the children from the school the day before. A great day out!
Golf comes to St Joseph’s!
What a star Mark Weed has been to St. Joseph’s this year! A Sports Coach student and former pupil of the school, Mark has more than paid back what we gave him by giving of his free time to help with sporting activities. Mark has come into school every Tuesday and Friday this session to help teachers deliver the sports programme and this term he has turned his talents to Golf. P5 and P7 are both learning the technical aspects of the game and Mark has ably assisted Mrs McLean and Miss Boyd to deliver the programme.
