Skipping for the British Heart Foundation
On Friday 21st March, staff and pupils took part in a sponsored skip-athon to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. Children had practised skipping as part of their P.E. lessons in the run up to the event and then took part in a variety of skipping events during the day itself, culminating in a whole school mass skip at lunchtime. Oban Schools Premiership Experience
On the 14/15th March, 43 pupils from 5 schools (Park, Rockfield, St Columba’s, Lochnell and Oban High) enjoyed a Premiership Experience football weekend in Newcastle and Sunderland. Over the weekend the boys and girls enjoyed a stadium tour of St James’ Park, a training session with Newcastle United coaches and watched Sunderland v Crystal Palace at the Stadium of Light. The pupils had a great time meeting and mixing with pupils from other schools. The photo was taken during the stadium tour.
‘Sport Relief Mile’ and ‘Sport Your Trainers’ at Dalintober PS
Dalintober PS recently supported two ‘sporty’ events. P6 and P7 pupils completed a one mile run for ‘Sport Relief’ and all pupils donned their sports’ shoes for ‘Sport Your Trainers Day 2014’ for Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games – participating in a range of sports and activities. Gymnastics Festival
P5-7 travelled to Oban High School to take part in this years gymnastics festival. With guidance from Mrs Liz Clunie our PE specialist, all pupils in P5-7 have been working hard to create fantastic routines, supporting one another and giving constructive feedback. Three groups from Easdale performed on the day and one of our groups were awarded 1st place in the rural schools category. All three groups performed very well. The children also enjoyed watching performances from Oban High School pupils.
Colgrain are triumphant at Lomond School
On the evening of Friday 14th March , Colgrain Primary School competed in the Lomond Netball Tournament. The tournament took place at Lomond Sports Hall. Everyone displayed excellent team spirit and gave 100%! We came an astounding 1st place, after competing against very strong teams. Thank you to Mrs Cormack and Mrs Jack for helping us to achieve this!
Teaching Dance course 1st April
The following course has been organised for primary class teachers to assist with the teaching of dance. The course will be led by Anne Murphy, Development Officer with Education Scotland.

Together Again!
On Wednesday 5th of March Keills and Small Isles Primary travelled down to Port Charlotte School to do some team building challenges.
First we were put into teams and it was good because the groups had children from different schools. This meant we could make new friends. The first challenge we did was a dragon game. I liked it because you had to communicate with lots of different children. We had to try and catch the other teams’ dragon tails. It was great fun.
Happy Healthy Me
“Primary 1 children in Castlehill invited Campbeltown Nursery to join them for a “Happy Healthy Me” morning.
Everyone had taster sessions in Yoga Bugs, Mini Kickers and Keep Fit. Louise, the school nurse, also spoke to the children about keeping their hearts healthy. A fruit kebab healthy snack was enjoyed by all.”

‘Options’ Fridays at Dalintober Primary School
Dalintober Primary pupils are enjoying their new skills based programme, called ‘Options’, which has been running every Friday since January. Pupils have ‘opted in’ to one of four areas – Healthy Heroes (Health & Wellbeing), Eco Warriors (Sustainable Education), Techno Whizzes (Technologies) and Smarty Arties (Expressive Arts) – which represent the wide variety of interests and wider achievements of the pupils themselves. St. Mun’s Sport Their Trainers for Glasgow 2014
With the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games less than 6 months away, the children and staff at St. Mun’s joined in the warm up for Scotland’s biggest-ever festival of sport and culture, by wearing their trainers to school to celebrate Commonwealth Day. Sport Your Trainers was a great opportunity to bring the Commonwealth Games to life in the school, allowing pupils and teachers to show their support in a fun and easy way, ahead of their IDL project on the Commonwealth, which will begin after the Easter Holidays. Stramash Easter and Summer Youth Programme 2014
Stramash’s Youth Programme this year is one of the best yet, with loads of fantastic outdoor opportunities for young people aged 3-17, throughout the Easter and Summer holidays. All our courses allow children and young people to learn and develop, discover new places, build confidence, have fun, make new friends and be active outdoors! As well as our surf camp, yacht expedition and kayak residentials, we have lots of great additions including dinghy sailing courses, British Canoe Union courses, and lots, lots more! Oban High Supports Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday for Six Nations
Oban High School students journeyed to Murrayfield on Saturday 8 March for the Six Nations rugby match with Scotland v France. Although all were disappointed by the outcome, it was nonetheless an incredibly exciting match right up to the remaining two minutes of play.

‘Tasty Tuck Team’ Hit Dalintober PS
On Friday, the ‘Tasty Tuck Team’, aka Dalintober Primary’s Pupil Council members, launched a new initiative to encourage pupils to bring in healthy snacks for playtimes. They sold some tasty morsels – fruit, pitta breads and crackers – as suggestions and these ‘tasters’ went down a treat with their fellow pupils. Following the current project’s run, they hope that parents and pupils will continue to promote the healthy eating message.
Hola! World Book Day with an International flavour at Ardchattan!
Ardchattan Primary School have celebrated World Book Day and International School Meals day with fun, food and fantastic fundraising for Mary’s Meals!
It all began six weeks ago at our Community Burns Supper when we announced the start of our Change for Mary’s Meals campaign. We have four of the blue Mary’s Meals mugs, one for each child in our school. Our target was to fill the mugs with enough small change to feed four children in Malawi for a year, a total of about £40.

Shake up your Wake up!
Primary 5/4 at St Mun’s Primary School helped the whole school to ‘Shake Up Their Wake Up’ by taking part in The Big Farmhouse Breakfast week from 27th to 31st of January.
Pupils developed their organisational and communication skills by creating menus for each class; cooking different healthy breakfast options; carrying out surveys and devising a breakfast race to help everyone stay fit and healthy!
Volleyball Tournament at Dunoon Grammar School
Dunoon Grammar School hosted the annual Volleyball Tournament organised by Mrs Fiona McLean on Monday 3 March. The contestants arrived from the various local Primary Schools and the rules were explained to everyone. As normal it was a very well organised event with every child thoroughly enjoying the day! Dunoon Teams A & C made their way to the final with Dunoon Team H losing out to Strachur for third place.

Dunoon Grammar School – Gymnastics Trip
On Monday 24th February, twenty seven school gymnasts received specialist training at the Inverclyde National Sports Centre, in Largs. The pupils participated in a three hour coaching session led by two professional British Gymnastics Club coaches. The pupils performed to an excellent standard and were commended for the standard of their work by the guest tutors at this Olympic standard facility.
East Lorn Health and Wellbeing Conference
On Thursday 20th and Friday 21st of February P6 and 7 pupils from the East Lorn cluster(Dalmally,Taynuilt and Kilchrenan) got together for a two day health and wellbeing conference at Dalmally Community hall entitled “Changes and Challenges”
During the first day the children took part in various workshops on emotional changes, puberty, friendships and resolving conflicts and healthy lifestyles.
