Pupils from Argyll and Bute’s Cardross Primary School had a ‘magical’ start to their week when they had a visit from Allan’s Road Safety Magic Show.
The innovative show uses magic tricks to highlight key road safety themes including safe places to cross, the importance of wearing bright clothing and keeping away from parked cars.

Ardrishaig Primary are Millennium Cup Champions!
Ardrishaig Primary School Football Club travelled all the way to Campbeltown to compete in the Millennium Cup this week and they were delighted to come home as champions. The team included children from P4-7, captained by Robbie in P7. They remained unbeaten throughout the night with 4 wins and 1 draw. Each player received a medal and the school will hold onto the cup for this year.

The BarrowBand
Did you know broccoli comes from Italy? Or that carrots came from Afghanistan? Primary 1-4 pupils in the Mid Argyll area learned these and many other interesting facts about fruit and vegetables thanks to The BarrowBand. The BarrowBand’s goal is to ‘inspire a new generation of people (especially children) to love, understand and demand fruit and vegetables as part of their diet and lives.
BBC 10 Pieces Take Over Day at Lochgilphead Primary School
A fantastic day was experienced by pupils and staff when members of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and a BBC film crew took over Lochgilphead Primary School for the day! Pupils from Kilmartin Primary and Ardrishaig Primary also joined us for the day. A huge variety of activities took place with children participating in a whole school assembly, singing workshops, as well as musical and non-musical response workshops.

Skipping for the British Heart Foundation
On Friday 21st March, staff and pupils took part in a sponsored skip-athon to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. Children had practised skipping as part of their P.E. lessons in the run up to the event and then took part in a variety of skipping events during the day itself, culminating in a whole school mass skip at lunchtime. Bat Boxes at Ardrishaig Primary
On possibly the wettest day of the month Brian and Laura from SNH and the Forestry Commission visited Ardrishaig Primary to tell the eco-committee all about bats!
Brian and Laura hold special bat handling licenses and they explained that you need a licence to legally look into bat boxes or to relocate bats. They told the committee about the work they do in Argyll to protect bats and also about the work he and Laura do to help people who find bats in their houses.

Ardrishaig Remembers the Bard!
Staff and Pupils at Ardrishaig Primary School Celebrated Burs’ Day in Style on Friday. Mrs McMillan Piped in the haggis accompanied by Gregor (P7) on his drum. Cameron from P7 then addressed the haggis before we all said the Selkirk Grace and tucked in. We spent the afternoon celebrating all things Burns and Scottish with a selection of poems and songs being performed by children from across the school. Ardrishaig Primary One Lunch
On Friday 31st August 2012, Ardrishaig Primary School invited parents/carers of children in P1 to come along to the school and enjoy a school meal with their child. This practise has taken place for several years and it gives parents/carers the opportunity to see the variety and standard of meals on offer.
