Ardrishaig PS BarrowbandDid you know broccoli comes from Italy? Or that carrots came from Afghanistan? Primary 1-4 pupils in the Mid Argyll area learned these and many other interesting facts about fruit and vegetables thanks to The BarrowBand. The BarrowBand’s goal is to ‘inspire a new generation of people (especially children) to love, understand and demand fruit and vegetables as part of their diet and lives.

The parent council at Ardrishaig Primary School secured funding to bring The BarrowBand to do 2 days of workshops involving pupils from Ardrishaig, Minard, Furnace, Tayvallich, Achahoish, Kilmartin, Glassary and Lochgilphead Primary. The children learned songs and actions for an evening event where they perfomed with the band.

What a fantastic event bringing so many children together and promoting healthy eating in a unique and fun way!

  1. What a great way to learn about healthy eating. Do you think the BarrowBand would come to schools in Helensburgh & Lomond?

  2. Great tunes! Everyone loved the Kiwi Song. A refreshing, fun event.
