To really set off the last few days of term pupils from both Toward & Innellan Primary Schools went along to sing some carols on Friday 12th December to the residents of Dalriada Grove, Innellan (Retirement/Sheltered housing). They were well received and as always were a credit to their schools. They wore Christmas jumpers that day and made £44 for “Save the Children – Christmas Jumper Day Appeal”.

Rhunahaorine Christmas Concert
Rhunahaorine primary and pre-5 Unit performed ” A Midwife Crisis” in Tayinloan Hall on the 18th December.
Thank you to all who came along to support us and to the parent council for all their help and lovely baking!

Clachan and Skipness Christmas Show
Clachan and Skipness pupils entertained audiences in both schools with their wonderful performance of Snowwhite. The children had written an alternative Christmas ending and Santa Claus even made an appearance. The show also featured instrumental pieces and Christmas carols. Thank you to everyone who came along!
The Christmas Story by St Andrew’s Primary School
The Christmas Story was retold by pupils in Primary 1/2 in St Andrew’s Primary School for an audience of family and friends. Pupils in P 2/3 helped out by warming-up the audience with some Christmas songs, providing narrators and designing posters to help advertise the show. The evening was concluded with the school choir, made up of pupils from P 4-7, leading a sing-a-long of Christmas favourites! It definitely helped put everyone in the mood for Christmas!

Southend Annual Christmas Concert
Last Thursday, Southend Primary held its annual Christmas Concert. Pre 5 children and Primaries 1-3 performed “Our First Nativity” and Primaries 1-7 performed “Aladdin.” There were also woodwind and chanter instrumental performances. This was followed by Coffee and Mince pies, then parents were invited into the classrooms where the pupils sold their Christmas crafts.
A Very Merry Kirn Christmas
There was Christmas spirit aplenty at Kirn Primary School on Friday as the whole school and particularly Primary 6 pupils hosted the Annual Kirn Christmas Community Lunch.
Specially invited guests from the Kirn community were treated not only to the wonderful lunch prepared by Lynn Stirling and the incredible staff in the Kirn kitchen but to an even more wonderful Christmas Concert.

Christmas is a time of happiness and coming together. At Rosneath Primary School Staff and Pupils recently, courtesy of Mrs Johnson and the ladies in the kitchen, sat down to a delicious Christmas Lunch. Lots of festive cheer – background Christmas music, crackers being pulled, lots of happy smiling faces and…………………………clean trays and plates!

Colgrain Primary Christmas Fayre
The Primary 6 and 7 pupils at Colgrain Primary School held a very successful enterprise event on Friday 12th December. As part of their enterprise education they planned and ran a Christmas café and crafts morning in the school hall. Pupils in the school had been busy making a range of Christmas decorations and crafts which sold out on the day. As well as the crafts there was a table heaving with delicious home baking, a very popular tombola, competitions and a second hand book stall.

Furnace and Minard Panto
The children of Furnace and Minard Primaries joined together to perform Roald Dahl’s version of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ on Thursday the 11th of December.
We held two performances, one in the afternoon and again in the evening and these were greatly enjoyed by all.
Hermitage Primary and Parklands School Taste of St Andrew’s Event
Primary Five pupils at Hermitage Primary School and Parklands’ pupils have been having a great time. They were fortunate enough to secure funding from the Scottish Government’s ‘Food For Thought’ programme.
This enabled them to plan, prepare and deliver a ‘Taste of St Andrew’ dinner for their parents on the evening of Thursday 27th November in the Victoria Hall, Helensburgh
The planning started even before school broke up in summer as they had to plant potatoes which would be ready to harvest later in the year.

An Early Christmas Present
Our p7 pupil, Colin, was delighted when a parcel arrived for him at school.
As part of his personal challenge work Colin has been researching ferries in the UK.
He recently wrote a letter to Caledonian Macbrayne asking for information on how to become a ferry skipper. He was very surprised to receive a package of goodies and a very detailed letter explaining the career path and even sharing some trade secrets!
We would all like to say a very big thank you to Cal Mac for this lovely early Christmas present.

St Andrew’s Primary School’s Third Green Flag!
St Andrew’s Eco Committee met with Paula Love, the Eco Schools Assessor, and informed her of all the hard work put in by the pupils, staff, parents and community members to maintain the Eco School status. After an initial meeting to discuss what has been happening in our school, from weekly litter picking duties to organised days like UNICEF’s Day of Change, the Eco Committee sang our Eco Code; complete with the newly choreographed actions.

Christmas Carol Singing at Blairmore
Strone Primary School pupils entertained the local community as part of the Blairmore Christmas Lights Switch On last week. During the day members of the Blairmore Village Trust came into school to decorate cupcakes with the children which were then judged at the event, and the children got everyone, including Santa, in the festive spirit by singing a selection of carols and playing Christmas tunes on their clarinets and fiddles.
Colgrain Senior Citizens’ Christmas Party
On Wednesday 3rd December the Primary 7 and Primary 6/7 pupils at Colgrain Primary hosted a Christmas party for the senior citizens of Helensburgh. The pupils and staff organised Ceilidh dancing, Christmas presents and teas and coffees for their invited grandparents and other senior citizens in the community.

St Andrew’s Day Celebrations at St Joseph’s!
A great day was had by all at St. Joseph’s School as St. Andrew’s Day was celebrated in style. Everyone had been invited to come to school wearing some tartan at a charge of £1 per person – an initiative which helped raise funds for the school. Then everyone packed into the assembly hall to watch each class perform a Scottish song or dance. There was quite a genre of singing on offer from ‘Ali Babi’ by the pre-5 children to ‘The Song of the Clyde’ by P6.

Lochgilphead Primary’s ‘Night at the Movies’
P7 and P7/6 pupils are shown here on the morning after a very successful ’Night at the Movies’ which was the final outcome for their Very Important Bear interdisciplinary learning topic. Pupils worked in groups of four to produce their own movies. They wrote the scripts, made props and then filmed using iMovie on our recently acquired iPads. Finally pupils edited their work, added titles, music and credits to produce the finished movie. The Assembly Hall was packed as parents and friends were treated to twelve very entertaining movies. The cakes and popcorn also went down well!
Friday Fourteenth Fundraising at Dalintober PS
Pupils, staff and parents of Dalintober PS donated generously for two charities on Friday 14th November. A ‘Superhero’/Non-uniform day took place for ‘Children In Need’, with several classes holding additional individual fundraisers, including a P7 Talent Show won by the Boys’ Macarena Movers.

Indian Food Tasting at Kirn Primary
Well done to Kirn Primary’s P2 class who tried a range of delicious Indian foods, prepared by our talented catering team. P2 have been studying India as part of their topic, and what better way to find out about Indian food than to come and taste some.
Breakthrough Bake Off at Port Charlotte!
Pictured are children at Port Charlotte school dressed in pink for our recent Breakthrough Breast Cancer Bake Sale. All the children in the school and pre5 unit had spent the week baking a variety of delicious goodies and on the Friday members of the local community were invited into the school for tea and a cake sale. Over forty visitors came and enjoyed our cakes and a display of individual project work by P3/4/5. We were delighted with the fantastic amount of £349 which we raised for Breakthrough and we’d like to thank everyone who helped with baking and donations

Some strange looking characters have set up camp in the grounds of Rosneath Primary School! They sent a letter to the children pleading for a place to stay after being “evicted” from their home (field) on a nearby farm for not doing their job properly. What a cheek!
We think they help make our grounds look spectacular so they can stay for as long as they like. Welcome to our new Scarecrow Family made from recycled materials.
