Primary 1 Update

Hello parents/carers,
What a wonderful first week we have had in Primary 1. The children have transitioned into their new class and routines well showing resilience to overcome their first week nerves. Thank you for supporting our learners on their new journey.
PE – Our PE days for this term will be on a Tuesday and Friday. Children should come into school with appropriate clothing and footwear to participate in sporting activities (ie trainers, joggers, t-shirt, jumper).
Snack for break time – If possible, can your child’s snack be kept separate from their lunch as some children are getting confused between what is for their break and what is for their lunch. Children may also want to have a small snack for the afternoon at the beginning of this school year, whilst they adjust to the longer days.
Seesaw login – All children will be provided with their Seesaw logins. Please try these at home and let me know if you have any issues. They will be uploading work onto their own accounts over the coming weeks once they have settled in to school life.
RCCT – Mrs Hardie will be working in Primary 1 on a Tuesday afternoon and will cover a range of HWB topics, PE and French.
Milk – Some children have been asking for milk; however they are not on the current list. If you would like them to be added to the list, please contact the school office.
Allergies – A reminder that no nut products should be brought into school due to children having allergies to different types of foods.
Personal items – Please ensure that everything your child brings to school is named. This will make it easier for them to look after and prevent things from being lost.
Lunch – Ensure children know what they are having for lunch before they arrive in the morning. If they are a school lunch which has been pre-ordered, this will not be changed by myself. You can order your child’s lunch through iPayimpact prior to them attending on the day. We use the colours in class to help identify what they would like.
The clear school bag/book bag provided during the transition into P1 is always useful for information to be sent home in. Please can you return the clear school bag/book bag so we can start using them to send information home. Should you not have access to the above, we will organise this for you.
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Walkingshaw

Sports Day Feedback

Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you to those who were able to join us yesterday for our School Sports Day. We are glad that so many of you could join us across our morning and afternoon sessions. We are looking to announce the winner of Sports Day tomorrow at assembly (14/6/24).

I would greatly appreciate any feedback about Sports Day yesterday. This will allow me to plan and organise next year’s event with input from parents, children and carers.

The link below will take you to the feedback form or you should have received this through a group call today.

P6 Classroom Learning Update

Today in class we have been learning about Hinduism. We explored the festival of Diwali to find out more about how Hindu’s celebrate, why they celebrate and create our very own Diva Lamps.

We will wait for them to dry overnight and then we will decorate them tomorrow.

Nalan was our expert today, showing us examples of real Diva Lamps alongside giving us tips on how to create our own.

Community Sports Organisations Update

One of our Community partners, Broxburn United Sports Club have recently started an online newsletter which will be released on the 1st of each month.

This will bring you the latest news and information with what’s going on down at BUSC.

They will have everything from latest news, new programmes, community work and much more.

Please check out the link below if you would like to sign up for these regular updates.

Primary 6 Class Charter

During our first week in Primary 6 we worked on ‘Building Our Community’. This is where we were reminded of school routines, expectations and standards, alongside getting to know our new teacher.

As part of this we created our Class Charter which displays our understanding of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) which applies to all children. We recapped about ‘Rights Holders’ and ‘Duty Bearers’ which we then added to our charter.

We worked as a class to pick UNCRC rights that we felt were most important to us and  matched our shared vision for this year.

Our shared vision for this year is displayed in our classroom.

Primary 6 Update

I have attached an update with our PE days and times for this term alongside some additional information to keep you updated on our focus for the first 2 weeks of term 1.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Primary 2/1

Primary 2/1 worked together to create a class charter. We looked at relevant articles from the UNCRC and referred to those to help us decide on some actions to ensure that the rights of everyone in the class will be met.
