PE Lesson – Wednesday 29th April

Good morning everyone,

Last week we worked on choosing picture cards for our activities. This week we are going with the same idea to let you get used to the activity. Ideally choose at least one new activity card to work to and learn.

I have added a couple of picture cards for the pupils to choose from today for PE.

1st we will start with a Warm-Up – Please Choose any 2 activities (1 new activity must be selected and you can use one youve used before) from the Warm Up Games below. Feel free to add your own choice of music too. Lets get going!!

Warm Up Games – Click here

Excellent. I hope you put in lots of effort and are properly warmed up?

Now this week we have added some Ball Games to chose from. However some of you may prefer to use Balloons, which is great. So feel free to choose what’s more suitable for you.
Now pick two activities from the below. One of the activities can be same the as last week but one must be new.

Excellent work today, now that you are all sweaty having worked hard and had some exercise you can now relax and give your body and mind some rest for a few minutes.

To do so your next challenge is to listen to your favourite relaxing song in a comfortable position and close your eyes until the song is finished.

Not to worry if you can think of any there are a whole list of warm up activities and links to children’s music on the “Alternative to Movement” post.

Thanks for your hard work and stay safe.

Maths Shape Activity 3

Hello Everyone.

I hope you manages to make some interesting patterns with rectangles or squares,

Today why not try making a pattern with circles?

Find a lid or coin and draw around it to make circles.                                                                             Now make a pattern with the circles.                                                                                                           Is it easier or harder to work with circles than rectangles?                                                                     What’s different about circles?                                                                                                                     Would tiles that are circles be a good shape to use to cover your bathroom wall?                          Why?

Here is a Jack Hartmann maths song to get you counting and moving

Group 8 – Thursday 2nd April

Good morning Group 8

Here are some activities for today

Why not try some story massage. Use the guide below and while you are reading a story you can use the exercise on the young person.

How about some messy play.

For lunch today why not try making your own sandwich. Here are the instructions for a chicken mayo filling.

Make sure you are helping around the house too.

You can go on a treasure hunt around the house and find as many different colours as you can. Then why not try sorting them into different colours.

Time for some relaxation with some breathing exercises

Next click on the picture below to explore the webcams at Edinburgh Zoo

Hope you all have a good day and manage to get some fresh air too.

Group 8 Tasks

Good morning group 8

Here are some tasks you can enjoy today

Why not start by looking around the house for lots of different objects, you can then sort them into different colours. Count them and decide which is the highest number.

Next after all that hard work, relax and sing along to Gigglebellies. Click on the picture below.

It is now time for a snack. I think you have earned it.

Here is a challenge for you. Can you find lots of things that feel different. You can then lay them on the floor to create your very own tactile road.

Make sure to look out the window and check on the weather.

After some lunch it is time to help out around the house. There might be some jobs in the kitchen to do.

Lets finish the day with a spot of gardening. There might be a job you can do like some tidying up or digging up some weeds.

Lets end the day with a song

Have a great day everyone.

Alternative to Movement – Some New and Familiar Activities

Hi all,

I have added an alternative to Movement Activities for our children should you wish or prefer to use the below videos. All videos are from YouTube therefore you may be able to display them on your TV as opposed to smaller devices, should your home equipment allow this.

These short clips are representative of some of the short videos i used with our primary pupils last year. Many of our secondary pupils still really enjoy them and have been known to try to join in while they are passing Primary taking part in our PE hall. So please let them have a go and join in.

Please use them as you wish. You don’t need to do them all. This is just some alternative ideas which will provide some sense of recognition and familiarity to our children.

In particular some of these clips were used as opportunities to stretch and follow instructions for those children with particular movement limitations.

If i can help in any way in relation to PE, Movement and Outdoor Learning then please feel free to drop me an email.
