PE – 24/01/2025

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all staying safe at home. Just because we’re at home doesn’t mean we can’t stay active! Here are some suggestions to help you keep moving:

Start with a warm-up song.

Great job on the warm-up! Now that we’re warmed up, let’s try some gross motor skills. You don’t have to do all the skills in the video—just go as far as you can. But a big well done if you manage to do them all!

If you use a wheelchair, please ask an adult to support you with the exercises. They can throw the tissue for you to catch, and you can throw the tissue for them to catch.

Everyone can get inspired by the video and create their own challenges. Good luck!

To finish up, let’s do some fitness with our old friend Joe Wicks.

If you can’t stand or find it difficult, here are some alternative fitness exercises.

I hope you enjoyed your PE! Have an amazing day.

Group 2

Good morning.

How are you feeling today?

What are you doing this weekend?

I am a bit sad that school is closed.  Bruce has a party on Saturday at Lasertag.  Have you been there before?

I put the following booklet into your bag yesterday just in case.  There are a few nice pages about your family and favourite foods. There is a colouring page too.

Alternatively you could help with some jobs around the house.  Bruce will be helping to put away his clothes and will help to make breakfast and lunch.  He will also help to empty the dishwasher and hang up the washing. Let me know what you have done to help.

You could send me pictures at kirsty.reid@westlothian.org.uk

Once you have finished helping you deserve a chill.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnBAU8Co6PA&t=4938s

See you on Monday, Kirsty

Pinewood at War Memorial – Blackburn (Remembrance Day)

Today, a group of our dedicated senior pupils, alongside our headteacher, paid their respects at the Blackburn War Memorial. To commemorate Remembrance Day, they created a wonderful wreath from recycled plastic bottles. This eco-friendly tribute not only honours the fallen but also demonstrates our commitment to sustainability. We are incredibly proud of our pupils for their creativity, compassion, and environmental consciousnes.

Eco- Committee first meeting

It was a positive start to the session with our inaugural Eco-Committee meeting where we welcomed the new Eco-Rangers.

To start the meeting, we revisited our outstanding achievement from last year:

  •  the successful achievement of our fourth Eco-School Green Flag. A huge thank you to Tracey for providing the flagpole.

Forth Eco-School Green Flag Award

  • We were also delighted to hear from Sarah (science teacher who left last year) about her incredible work in helping the planet. She has been planting thousands of trees in her new eco-friendly home and living a more sustainable life style.

Here is the minutes of our first Eco-Committee meeting.
