Good morning Primary 3.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Thank you very much to all of the parents that have been in touch with me so far, I have loved receiving all of your photos and seeing the children again. Hello everyone, we hope you’ve had a good week and enjoyed all the wonderful sunshine!Β This week there has been a lot of great learning taking place both through written tasks and active tasks.Β We’ve heard about lots of creative activities with people making models and pictures, painting beautiful under the sea lanturns for their bedrooms, building planters, baking yummy delights (including dandelion honey), and even making a video as if they were a granny looking back on what life was like during the coronavirus.

In Literacy our learning has been focused around the βaiβ sound and the tricky word βthereβ.Β We have been writing our spelling words in rainbow colours, making ‘ai’ words by cutting and sticking initial, middle and end sounds and we played a Popping Balloons game which was great fun!Β We have also been trying to remember our sun, boat and sea letters to help us when writing.
Β Β
Β
In Maths we have been developing our understanding of fractions and have consolidated our knowledge of halves and quarters.Β We’ve been drawing some shapes and marking them to show a whole, a half and a quarter.Β We practised our sandwich making skills and identified halves and quarters.Β Some of us went on a fraction hunt around our homes and came up with some great examples of halves and quarters.
Β Β Β

In our topic work this week we have been imagining we are under the sea and we have thought about some of the wonderful things we would see, hear, touch and smell.Β People also discussed how they might feel living under the sea and what would amaze them and possibly scare them about being under the sea.Β Some of us made kaleidoscopes which was great fun and others did some research into the different creatures that live in the sea.Β Did you know that an octopus can flash different colours?Β Well done to those who were able to explain that the ocean is dark at the bottom because the sunlight does not reach there but light at the top because the sunlight is absorbed and reflects the blue colour of the water.Β Β Many of us have enjoyed watching the videos about the sea creatures and their habitats.Β We are all learning so many new and interesting things.
Β Β
In science lots of us have been carrying out some personal research into different minibeasts and have been sharing lots of good facts.Β We’ve seen people continue their hunt for minibeasts and others matching up the habitats with the different creatures.Β Well done to everyone who was able to label the parts of the minibeast correctly too.

We are loving being able to share in all your learning experiences so please do continue to send your photos and videos or even just an email with some news of what you’ve been doing.Β Β If possible can we ask when sending your emails that you copy both of us in because Mrs Clyne is rubbish and keeps forgetting to forward them to Mrs Smith!Β This would be a great help and means we can both see all the wonderful learning that’s happening.Β Thank you.
With regards to reading, try to enjoy sharing books as much as you can and Mrs Clyne will get on to sorting EPIC as quickly as she can, this week has been very busy with report writing!
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Mrs Clyne & Mrs Smith
Good afternoon Primary 2/1. What a quick week that was.Β Lots of learning has been taking place formal or informal. I have heard of river walks, bug hotels been added too, apples being quartered and bug hunts taking place.
P1βs Literacy learning has been focused around the βaiβ sound and the tricky word βthereβ. For literacy we have been writing our spelling words in rainbow colours, making ai words by cutting and sticking and playing popping balloons.

In Numeracy and Maths the focus for this week was on fractions. We drew 3 circles, squares and triangles; we marked one shape a whole, one a half and the last one a quarter. We made our lunch or snack whilst exploring halves and quarters. Lastly we went on a fraction hunt either around our house or when out walking.

P2βs focus in Literacy this week has been on the βthβ spelling pattern, learning about verbs, making predictions about the book we were reading or learning colours in French.

In Numeracy and Maths the focus this week for P2 was exploring number bonds to 20. We used ten frames, part whole model, number sentences and the counting on strategy to help us.

We have imagined we were under the sea this week and explored what we could see, hear, touch and how we would feel. Some of us have also made kaleidoscopes. In Science, we labelled parts of an insect.
Here is a selection of photos of the learning this week.

Have a lovely weekend.

Another busy week for the P4 pupils even though school was only 3 days. Once again I am hearing about lots of gardening, baking and crafts. Keep it up! Many of us were able to take our school learning into the garden on the beautiful sunny days we had. We had a 2 minute silence at 11 am this morning to commemorate VE Day. I know that lots of you weren’t able to join us online, but managed to do it at home anyway. I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Here are some of the pupil comments this week:
Luke – I liked the maths this week. I have enjoyed because It helped me understand fractions and now Iβm really good at them. I also liked learning about Africa.
Rhys – I liked Maths this week it was fun and a wee bit difficult at the same time π The tricky bit was when we had to work out equivalent fractions to put them in order. The fun bit was when working out the < > and= to fractions.
Harris – I liked colour by numbers multiplication picture. It turned out to be a highland dancer. It was from Robert Burns Day.
Sophie – I enjoyed doing read theory because I learned about killer whales and they are actually orcas.
Olly – This week I have done spelling, fractions, decimals, Sumdog and reading.
Freya – I liked maths too it was hard but fun.
P6 had an active week with lots going for walks and cycles with families. Many have been busy creating sundials linked to their learning about Ramadan.

Some people enjoyed a webinar with STEM ambassadors; Pam Anderson and Jeremy Curtis, where they learned about their careers and the skills needed for a variety of jobs in the space industry. For those who missed it, the video will be available on Youtube shortly.
In reading, most people are enjoying Millions by Frank Cotrell-Boyce and are keen to find out if the boys manage to spend all the money in time.
Thanks to everyone who made it alongΒ to the TEAMs Friday Sharing chat- it was great to hear from you all!

some nice activities to do if your taking part in we re gong on a bear hunt Facebook page π
