P6/5 Daily Plan

Fun Friday! Today will have a slightly different style as I want you to start working more independently. I will do a check from 9, but you then have to work on the below tasks independently and we will get back together for another check in at 12.

Please remember that “Teams” gets really busy during the day so you are better off accessing the resources you need from “Files” the night before. Please also do not click on “New Conversation” in “Posts”. Please also remember it is not the correct platform for chat. Please do not post Giffs or pictures of pets etc, and keep your posting and pinging to the minimum, for example use the thumbs up “Like” emoji rather than post “OK”. This will make it easier for you to find things and be less distracting. Another plea: make sure you read this document and the timetable as it has a lot of answers to the questions you are asking.

I will try to keep Teams as simple as possible for you all by only uploading what you need for each day into the “General” folder in “Files”. I have added some more activities for you to “Education City Homework”. There are loads of other really interesting activities in their as well. The other website I love is the BBC: check this out and show your parents / carers

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zvryp4j

Maths: Problem Solving: Money. Chili questions: you can choose how “spicy” (difficult) the questions are. Please choose carefully the pages most appropriate for yourself: as I have said I want you to work independently on these

The TJay Books can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Maths and Numeracy. I have also up-loaded the individual pages.

For those of you that want to really challenge yourselves try the “How do I plan a simple budget?” activity here:

Friday 15.1.21

Good morning, Mrs Lockhart here. Today’s tasks are outlined below.

Firstly, watch the powerpoint on Persuasive Writing, in the Folder named Friday 15.1.21, there are some good reminders and tips here.

au-l-53229-introduction-to-persuasive-text-powerpoint_ver_1 (1)

Then think about your arguments in favour of school uniform. Look at the persuasive planners provided in the same folder or below and choose one to support you. Persuasive Framework or Persuasive Framework 2. Finally write your persuasive piece in your jotter. Remember the long date and title. Upload your work, if possible, into your folder please.

Next there is an interesting poster competition for you to take part in.

‘Being Kind to yourself is one of the greatest kindnesses’

Think of how you could illustrate this idea and make it into a powerful poster. Upload your poster into individual folders please. Good luck!

Remember if you have any spare time to read for pleasure and just occasionally stop to practise your predicting skills.

12.00 Live check – in and Together Time.

That’s all for today. I’m looking forward to being in touch with you next week. Have a lovely week-end and take care everyone.

THURSDAY 14.1.21

Hello everyone, Mrs Lockhart here. Hope you are all well.

Please remember that “Teams” gets really busy during the day so you are better off accessing the resources you need from “Files” the night before. Please also do not click on “New Conversation” in “Posts”. Please also remember it is not the correct platform for chat. Please do not post Giffs or pictures of pets etc, and keep your posting and pinging to the minimum, and this will make it easier for you to find things and be less distracting.

Today you meet at 9.00 for a live check in with Mrs Dobbie, then with me at 11.00 and again after lunch at 1.30 for a live dictation lesson. Hopefully this gives you time and space to complete the tasks and then meet up to discuss how things are going.

Also I made a little mistake on Monday! There is no need to print any activity, the expectation is you copy the worksheet into your jotter. Hope that makes things easier for everyone. If you can, then photo the work and upload it to your folder or email it in and that would be perfect.

All your work for the day from me is in the Class Materials folder dated 14.1.21. We are covering RME /French with Mrs Dobbie, Maths Problem Solving, a dictation and a prediction task from a story.

I have written down times to try and help with organisation but feel free to move things around or do them later if that’s easier.

9.00 – Live check in with Mrs Dobbie and outline of activities

BREAK 10.30 – 10.45

11.00 – live check in with Mrs Lockhart and overview of the day

11.20 Maths Task – Time

Go to

https://corbettmathsprimary.com/2018/07/31/time-video/

Now complete the worksheet  Challenge Time 1 Show your working in the box.

LUNCH 12.30-1.15

1.30 Spelling Work live dictation

Take a new line in your jotter write the short date (14.1.21) and title – Dictation

Listen carefully and write your group’s dictation. We have done this many times in class so it should be straightforward.

2.00 Next task is to watch the story clip (only available in Team Files) and predict what happens at the end. Stop the clip when the wolf comes into the story and write your prediction down. Remember to give some evidence for your answer. Write your prediction and evidence in your jotter. I’m looking forward to reading your guesses. They don’t need to be correct but there does need to be some evidence to back them up. CHANGED clip difficult to access instead  watch the following clip and write two things you learned from the clip in your jotter.                                   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k09Q8A6Bxco

That’s all for today. I’m looking forward to being in touch with you again tomorrow. Take care everyone.

Remember you can go back to the text as often as you like and some questions may require to give your own answers and your opinion. P6/5 Daily Plan

Hello again! Please remember that “Teams” gets really busy during the day so you are better off accessing the resources you need from “Files” the night before. Please also do not to start a new conversation in “Posts”. I will create one when I upload this. Please also remember it is not the correct platform for chat. Reading: I will read the class novel “Wonder” live after morning check ins. The follow up activity is the role of Summariser from Literacy Circles. A sheet to support you with this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Literacy. However having seen the work produced for Predictor I think most of you will need more space and be better off writing this activity into a jotter

Numeracy: LI To multiply (and divide) by 10 (100, 100). Again I will try to do a live teach for this as timetabled. I will start with TJ Book 2a (this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Maths and Numeracy) page 24, and then progress onto page 25. For those of you that want to really challenge yourselves try the “How do I plan a simple budget?” activity here:
