Home Learning Feedback: P5-P7 Clans

We recently asked our pupils in Bramble (P5), Thistle, Ben Lawers and Ben Lomond, and our families to evaluate home learning at our P5-P7 stages. We have collated the results from the questionnaires and made an action plan for moving forward. Please find the results and action plan attached below.

The new home learning grids for our P5-P7 clans will come with an overview that provides the expectations for homework. We hope you find this useful and supportive!

Cost of Living – Calderwood Cares

We are looking at ways to support our parents during the ‘Cost of Living Crisis’.

At Calderwood, there are a number of ways we would like to support our families during this difficult time. One of which would be to start a food pantry and we are looking to gauge interest. Our plan would be to issue a weekly order form for items that you may need urgently. This service would be strictly anonymous and we can arrange delivery or pick up on a Friday.

We would also like to know how we can support parents by inviting in or running sessions with agencies such as ‘The West Lothian Advice Shop’. They can offer free and impartial advice for those experiencing financial hardship and can signpost to different agencies to support families in all matters.

If this is something you feel you would benefit from, please answer this short survey so we can begin to source items and arrange dates with the West Lothian Advice Shop.

Scottish Recital – Clan Winners

Last Friday we celebrated Burns by reciting poems in our clans. The children were absolutely amazing! The hard work, perseverance and confidence was excellent to see, whether on Teams, See Saw or in person. A huge thank you to our families to supporting our children to learn and perform in their own way.

Each clan voted for their winner. Congratulations to our clan winners below. If your child was a winner you are invited to watch your child compete and recite their poem in front of the judges tomorrow.
