Litter Pickers in the community.

During the February break- a group of 6 local children completed some litter picking in the local area- on one of the streets close to school (Cameron Gardens) which had been impacted by a lot of rubbish!

There was some amazing feedback regarding the six pupils. They gathered the rubbish with such enthusiasm and they managed to fill 12 rubbish bins of litter!!
This was also reported on the Calderwood Facebook page and received lots of praise from the local residents.

Bring Your Own Device – Ben Lawers & Ben Lomond

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is an initiative offered across all West Lothian schools to give children the opportunity to safely use their own devices in school.

At all times, children will also have access to school devices such as netbooks and iPads, this is an opt in programme.

Please watch the video below that the children have made. If you would like your child to take part, please read and complete the contract with them. This will start on 19th October. 2021.

End of Term 1

Good afternoon everyone,
Can you believe our first term at Calderwood Primary is over?!
I want to say a huge thank you for your support and understanding during this transition period and for bearing with us as we find the Calderwood Way of doing things.
Our relentless focus on relationships has ensured a smooth transition for all our children, and a huge thank you to all our champions who go above and beyond everyday to make Calderwood Primary such a magical place to be.
Our first context for learning has been In Calderwood and you can see from our Sway all the exciting learning that has taken place:
A huge thank you to Mr Jeffery, one of our parents, who captured the our opening day in this outstanding video:
https://vimeo.com/624799785 We are still awaiting another video of all the children being piped in.
This week we had an extremely positive Validated Self Evaluation from West Lothian Council, which we hope to share the findings with you after the holidays. The purpose of this visit was to look at our transition process and it was recognised that other new schools can learn from us in the future.
On Thursday 21st October at 6:30pm, we would like to hold our first Parent Council meeting. This meeting will be in two parts, an AGM to give out roles and then a meeting with items to discuss. We will send out more information about this closer to the time. Due to the current restrictions for schools, the meeting will be help online.
Term 2 will be another exciting chapter for us as we welcome our youngest children to our nursery!
I wish you all a lovely October holiday.
Kind regards,
Miss Burton
