Calderwood Sports Day 2026

Thank you to everyone who came along to support the children during sports day. The weather held up in the morning with showers in the afternoon. The children were able to take part in the 8 activity stations with some classes taking part in the running races. Highlights from the children were the space hopper station and the javelin throw. The winning house for the potted sports was Fallow House. Well done! The remaining races will take place at a later date.
Calderwood Primary Basketball – Celebrating a Fantastic Season
Last Friday marked the close of another exciting basketball season for Calderwood Primary, and what a season it has been! Our teams have shown incredible dedication, teamwork and resilience throughout, and we are so proud of everything they have achieved.
A special congratulations goes to our P7 team, who finished an impressive 7th in all of West Lothian, and to our P6 team, who secured a brilliant 6th place finish. Competing at this level is a huge achievement, and both teams represented Calderwood with pride, determination and excellent sportsmanship at every event.
Beyond the results, this season has been filled with memorable moments—players developing their skills, building confidence, supporting one another and showing true team spirit on and off the court. It has been fantastic to watch their progress and see how much they have grown as individuals and as teams.
As we look ahead, we are incredibly excited for the future. We wish our P7 pupils every success as they move on to high school and continue their basketball journeys. We have no doubt they will go on to achieve great things and carry their love of the game with them.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this season possible:
- Parents and carers for their continued support, transport and encouragement
- Staff at Calderwood for giving their time to coach, organise and cheer on the teams
- Active Schools and West Lothian Wolves for providing opportunities and running such well-organised events
Your support has made a real difference and helped create such a positive experience for our pupils.
Well done to all involved—bring on next season! 🏀

Calderwood Basketball – First Tournament
Calderwood Basketball Teams Kick Off the Season!
On Friday, our Calderwood Primary basketball teams took part in their first tournament of the season at West Calder High School. Both squads showed fantastic teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
- Calderwood Hornets (P6 Squad) are currently sitting 5th on the league table.
- Calderwood T-Wolves (P7 Squad) are holding 7th place after some exciting matches.
We are incredibly proud of all the players for their effort and enthusiasm. A big thank you to everyone who supported the teams and helped make the day a success!
📸 Check out the photos of both teams below!

Let’s keep cheering them on as the season continues, Go Calderwood!
Calderwood Ski Team – 1st December 2025
The Calderwood ski team performed exceptionally well yesterday at the Scottish School Snowsports Skier and Boarder Cross Race.
The course was particularly challenging—set over the Hillend freestyle section, with steep jumps and high-adrenaline twists and turns. We are incredibly proud of all the children who competed at such a high standard.
A special mention must go to Harper, who showed tremendous bravery in overcoming her fear of jumps to take home the gold medal.
For someone only six years old, Niamh was fearless and unstoppable. She is certainly one to watch—without doubt a future Calderwood star racer!
Ruairidh was his usual cool, calm and collected self, though even he struggled to contain his excitement when he learned he had taken 2nd place, grinning from ear to ear.
Results – P1–P4 Category:
🥇 Harper
🥈 Niamh
🥈 Ruairidh
Charlie and Aaron also deserve special recognition. Their age category is incredibly competitive, yet they demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, bravery and resilience, pushing themselves to compete at a very high level.
