Fantastic Football Festival Performance!
Our Calderwood football team put in an outstanding performance at their recent football festival, finishing the evening with three wins and one draw.
The team showed great determination and skill throughout their matches, but what impressed us most was the way they supported one another. Every player was encouraged to get involved, and the team demonstrated excellent sportsmanship from start to finish.
Their positive attitude, teamwork and resilience were on display in every game, and they represented Calderwood extremely well both on and off the pitch.
A huge thank you to our staff who supported and coached the team, making opportunities like this possible for our pupils.
Well done to all of our players. We are incredibly proud of your efforts and the way you represented our school. Keep up the fantastic work!
Netball Opportunity for Calderwood Pupils
We’re excited to share a fantastic new sporting opportunity for our pupils!
Active Schools will be launching a FREE Netball Cluster Club for pupils in P4-P7 after the October holidays. The club will take place at Deans Community High School and is open to pupils from schools across the Livingston and West Calder clusters.
The sessions will run on Fridays from 30 October until 11 December:
- P4-P5: 1.15pm-2.00pm
- P6-P7: 2.00pm-2.45pm
This is a great opportunity for children to develop their netball skills, stay active, build confidence and make new friends while enjoying the sport in a fun and supportive environment. Whether your child is new to netball or already enjoys playing, everyone is welcome to get involved.
Bookings open at 6.00pm on Monday 12 October, and places can be reserved via the Active Schools booking link.
We would like to thank and the Active Schools team for providing this opportunity for our pupils.

Calderwood Pupils Shine at Cross Country Finals
A huge congratulations to all of our pupils who represented Calderwood at the recent Cross Country Finals!
The event brought together runners from across West Lothian and our team demonstrated fantastic determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the day. Every pupil should be extremely proud of their achievement in reaching the finals, which is a significant accomplishment in itself.
From the starting whistle to the finish line, our runners gave their all. They tackled the challenging course with enthusiasm, perseverance and positive attitudes, encouraging one another and embodying our school values every step of the way.
Whether achieving a personal best, overcoming nerves or simply giving their very best effort, every runner played an important part in making the day a success. The pride and determination on display were a credit to themselves, their families and our school community.
Thank you to all the staff, families and supporters who helped make the experience possible and cheered our runners on throughout the day.
Well done to every member of the Calderwood cross country team. We are incredibly proud of you all!
P7 Cross Country Success!
On Tuesday, a group of our P7 pupils took part in a cross-country event, completing an impressive 1.2km run. It was fantastic to see the determination, resilience and effort shown by every member of the team, and we are incredibly proud of them all.
The event was a great opportunity for our pupils to challenge themselves, demonstrate their fitness and represent Calderwood with pride. Every runner gave their best effort and showed excellent sportsmanship throughout the day.
We are delighted to share that our boys’ team and one of our girls, Amel, have qualified for the Cross Country Finals in Bathgate on 8th October. This is a fantastic achievement and recognition of all their hard work and commitment.
Congratulations to everyone who took part, and a special well done to those who have qualified for the finals. We look forward to cheering them on in October.

P.E Days Term 1 2026/27
European Summit Championships
One of our children in Blair Clan had a huge achievement this weekend!
She attended the European Summit Championships for dance in Portugal – her team won and became gold European champions!
We are so proud of her and her team on this amazing achievement!
Calderwood Sports Day 2026
Thank you to everyone who came along to support the children during sports day. The weather held up in the morning with showers in the afternoon. The children were able to take part in the 8 activity stations with some classes taking part in the running races. Highlights from the children were the space hopper station and the javelin throw. The winning house for the potted sports was Fallow House. Well done! The remaining races will take place at a later date.
Calderwood Primary Basketball – Celebrating a Fantastic Season
Last Friday marked the close of another exciting basketball season for Calderwood Primary, and what a season it has been! Our teams have shown incredible dedication, teamwork and resilience throughout, and we are so proud of everything they have achieved.
A special congratulations goes to our P7 team, who finished an impressive 7th in all of West Lothian, and to our P6 team, who secured a brilliant 6th place finish. Competing at this level is a huge achievement, and both teams represented Calderwood with pride, determination and excellent sportsmanship at every event.
Beyond the results, this season has been filled with memorable moments—players developing their skills, building confidence, supporting one another and showing true team spirit on and off the court. It has been fantastic to watch their progress and see how much they have grown as individuals and as teams.
As we look ahead, we are incredibly excited for the future. We wish our P7 pupils every success as they move on to high school and continue their basketball journeys. We have no doubt they will go on to achieve great things and carry their love of the game with them.
