Walking Month Week 4

A little bit of rain hasn’t stopped us from getting out there on our walks this week!  For our final week of walking week, each class went on a walk and collected some natural materials in the environment, experiencing all of the sights, smells and feelings of all of our findings.  When we got back to school we put our materials to good use and made a lovely display board at the front of the school with our wonderful creations!  What do you think?  We think it looks great!

Well done everyone on another successful walking month of May!

Walking Month Week 3

Another busy week for walking month this week.  This week’s challenge was for each pupil to make a Rainforest Animal Mask in class and then go out exploring on their walk with their mask.  We have seen lots of lovely, creative masks and the children all really enjoyed stomping and roaring through their walks dressed as their favourite animals.  Well done everyone!

Walking Month Week 2

Another busy week for all the children in Beatlie getting out and about this walking month.  This week we went on a sound walk – we found all the pictures of the rainforest animals and used our talking buttons to play the sound that they make.  This was lots of fun and some of the animals sounds made us laugh! Lots of nice sunny weather for us this week too – hopefully it keeps up for us into next week!

Walking Month Week 1

Happy International Walking Month!!  The theme for this years walking month is the rainforest and how reducing our carbon footprint will help the rainforest and the animals that live there.  This week each class has gone on a local walk and have been on the hunt for some rainforest animals on their way.

See how many you can spot in our photographs….

Football Festival

Today some of our learners attended the ASN Football Festival at Broxburn Athletic FC. They had a fantastic time, working on kicking and dribbling skills, and especially enjoyed playing a a giant game of hungry hippos!

Earth Day 2025

This year the theme for Earth Day 2025 was Our Power, Our Planet.  Each class fully embraced this theme by exploring solar lights, windmills and planting some seeds for our garden and helping to decorate our new special memorial garden.

Each class also took part in activities in class creating some lovely art work using paints and handprints to make Earth pictures which was lots of fun and lots of mess!

Take a look at how busy we have been!

Term Three in Lammermuir

We have had a busy term in Lammermuir.  We have had lots of events such as World Book Day,  Science week and Red Nose Day. We have enjoyed exploring all these themes with fun messy play activities, art Activities, baking and Sensory stories.

For world Book Day we enjoyed the Hungry Caterpillar story and activities in class and we enjoyed an outdoor book hunt and the Goldilocks and three bears story and some puppet shows!

The Red Nose Day cafe was great fun we loved baking our empire biscuits and using the photo booth.  We also danced along to the Red Nose Day song.

For science week we made some seed bombs and gave them to our mums for Mothers Day and we also made a grass head which we water in class.

We have been getting some new things for our garden and have enjoyed exploring them.  We got some new outdoor chalk boards, some musical toys and mirrors and also some mud kitchen toys.  We have been enjoying some nicer weather and making the most of it in our outdoor space.

We have been learning about spring and Easter too.  We enjoyed an egg hunt in the garden and also decorated some Easter eggs.

What a busy term, the children have all worked so hard on all their targets this term too and we have seen lovely progress! We hope everyone enjoys their well earned break!

Pentland Term 3

Another busy term in the Pentland Class!  We have all been working so hard on our activities in class and having the best time with our friends and adults in class.  We have lots of lovely visitors including Diesel, Sparkles and Willow the ponies from Happy Hoofbeats, Live Music Now, Dance Namaste and the theatre group Imaginate.  We have loved all of these experiences and have been able to express ourselves in lots of different ways.

Some of the learners in Pentland have been out to Bathgate Xcite for swimming and others have enjoyed some hydrotherapy in school.  We all love the water and are growing in our confidence and skills every week.

Here are some photograph’s of some of the fun things we have been up to in class and out and about!  Enjoy!

Happy Easter!

Spring term in Hopetoun

What a busy term we have had, Christmas seems like a long time ago now! We have been very busy with lots of different activities since then. Our topic has been Looking After My Body- Hygiene and everyone has been involved in this through learning about our bodies and how to look after them. We have also taken part in lots of different activities for things like Red Nose Day, Numeracy Day and World Book Day as well as having visits from Happy Hoofbeats therapy ponies and live music now. Some of the pupils have also been to visit the Yard in Edinburgh and have been swimming at Bathgate pool. Hydrotherapy has also continued this term. We are looking forward to another busy term after the holidays. Have a lovely Easter and fingers crossed the sun continues to shine.

Spring Clean Week 2025

This week Beatlie got to experience and participate in Spring Clean Week. A chance to tidy up the garden areas and local community before we break for the holidays!

The weather was perfect for us all to get out and about in the gardens and local community for all to litter pick.

This all helps our environment too!
