A Snapshot Week in Primary 2

Literacy

This week in Primary 2 we were learning about when to use the double consonant ss ending. We continued to develop our skills using exposition writing to write about our favourite coloured crayon after listening to the story ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’. Our reading task this week was to spot the silly word in a passage relating to our class reading books.

Numeracy

We are learning about place value and playing different games using dienes materials to help embed this concept. We collected data about the birthdays in class to create a bar chart.

Linlithgow Palace

We learned all about Royal etiquette and the expectations if you met the king or queen at a banquet at Linlithgow Palace. We also learned about the food that people would eat at the banquet. Some of it would be similar to what we would eat today however other dishes we were not keen to try like swan or peacock.

Fairtrade Fortnight

We discussed Fairtrade Fortnight and the importance of buying Fairtrade products so that we can help farmers in other parts of the world. We designed a wrapper for a Fairtrade chocolate bar.

Health and Well-being

We have been developing our gymnastic skills using the equipment in the gym hall.

This week we gathered all our work in our Snapshot jotters so that we can share it with our families.

Another busy week in the nursery.

To celebrate St. Andrews day the children have been learning lots about Scotland this week. They watched a short video about St. Andrew, found Scotland on a map,  did lots of arts and crafts and took part in  some highland dancing .

While trying to find Scotland on our map the children spotted the Scottish flag and decided to try and make their own using blue and white paper.

We then had a look at lots of different types of Tartan and attempted to copy our favourites .

Here are some photos of our learning.
