DANCEMARATHON!

BeFunky Collage COLL

Here are some photos from our Dance Marathon yesterday!

We all had a wonderful time and hopefully raised lots of money for our Lenten Appeal!

5, 2 or 1 hour of non stop dancing can be pretty challenging! Well done everyone!

A special THANK YOU to the dance leaders from St Margarets Academy for running a session with us, and the girls from JHM who taught everyone an amazing dance!

Highlights were definitely the class dance off, lip sync battle and best dancer competition!

Remember to bring in your sponsor money by FRIDAY!

Primary 1 Magic Moves

Primary 1 had great fun in their joint gym lesson yesterday.

We began by learning how to move like different animals.

Lions – crawling and roaring!

Kangaroos – jumping with 2 feet together

Snakes – slithering along the floor and hissing

Horses – galloping with one foot in front of the other, neighing

We then had lots of fun dancing to just dance on the whiteboard. We loved the songs and even made up some fab moves of our own. We were all sweating and breathing heavily by the end, which meant we’d been exercising well. Even Mrs Baty and Mrs Macdonald were worn out!

Absolutely Amazing “Annie”

Primary 5/4 and Primary 5 thoughts about “Annie”
Lukas: “I had a fantastic time being Officer Ward in “Annie”.  I liked the part when Miss Hannigan pulled at my tie and all the audience laughed!  I’m sad it’s now over and can’t wait to see the DVD.
Nicole: “I enjoyed being an orphan in the show, but it was hard work because every time Miss Hannigan appeared she shouted at us!  My favourite part was when all the orphans ran onto the stage at Mr Warbucks mansion.  My mum, dad, gran and grandpa all came to see the show and they loved it!”
Caitlin: “I liked doing the dance for the song “It’s a hard knock life”.  I had some lines to say and I’m glad I remembered them!  My best part was when we got the presents at the end and we all took a bow.  The audience gave us a big clap and cheered really loudly!”
Iona: “I loved being Miss Hannigan in the show and I’m proud of myself for learning all my lines and I’m glad I made the audience laugh.  My favourite part was when I sang ‘Little Girls’ and I liked acting alongside Amy and Georgia.  My mum, dad and sister came to the show and they were so proud of me!  I wish we could do it all over again”.
Erin: “I was a back stage helper and I enjoyed doing this job because being responsible for the props is important”.
Aaron: “I loved playing the part of Drake in the show and I enjoyed serving Mr Warbucks.  I knew my lines off by heart and I enjoyed dancing.  The audience were really good at clapping and laughing and I think they all enjoyed the shows!  I will miss the after school club on Wednesdays”.

Primary 6 would like to say a massive well done to Fraser Morris who competed in the Scottish Schools Primary School Cross Country on Saturday 19th of March.  He did extremely well and finished 5th out of 113 P6 boys who were entered for the race. Also Fraser competed 2Km Easter fun run at Beecraigs and won that race! All of Primary 6 are very proud and look forward to hearing about future races.

Primary 6 would also like to say well done to Rachael Brown who passed her Musical theatre dance exam!

Let’s Dance

Mrs Downham, a PE teacher at St Margarets Academy, brought some of her sixth year Dance Leadership girls to do a workshop with us today.  Before they taught us some really cool moves, we had to warm up and stretch; this is an extremely important part of any sport or excercise regime.  Once completely warmed up, we got down to the business of learning a dance to a song from The Little Mermaid – Under the Sea.  The concentration on our faces in the photos shows just how much we tried to follow the routine.  Towards the end of the session, just to make sure we were completely exhausted, we joined in with a couple of zumba songs.  It was really good fun and we would like to say a huge thank you to the girls and their teacher for taking the time to teach us and we can’t wait to see them again when they put on a performance for us next month.
