Article 30
You have the right to enjoy your own culture, practice your own religion and use your own language.
We have been learning about the beautiful country of South Africa and comparing it with life here in Scotland. We thought it would be a really good idea to share our huge diverse culture, traditions, history and lifestyles with some children in South Africa. So, we decided to create ‘our life in a bag’ – a paper suitcase filled with pictures, photographs, coins, information etc. – explaining the rich environment we live in and send them to two primary schools in the Port Elizabeth area; Lorraine Primary and Herbert Hurd Primary.
The bags are now on their way and we have had a look at the websites of both schools online. We have already had a response from one of the schools, who have emailed to say they are really excited about our projects and have started creating a collage to send back. We can’t wait!!
I can’t wait to receive the letters from South Africa
I had fun making these bags to tell South Africa what it is like in Scotland. I hope everyone in South Africa like our bags and I can’t wait to see what they post back.
we had lots of fun because it reminded us how good Scotland is and about our Scottish culture. The two p5 classes are really looking forward to getting letters and pictures back from the South African schools.
I liked creating my lives in a bag with photos of Amazonia and Deep Sea World, and going tenpin bowling with my friends.
Bags of life were really fun to make because we got to print things off the netbooks, cut and glue things to it e.g trees, grass clouds etc, write down things about Scotland and take pictures of our house/pets/family/street.
All the bags where amazing!!! we can’t wait to get the bags back from South Africa.
It was fun making the bags for life. We hope that the South African children enjoy them.
We can’t wait to hear from our new South African friends! It will be great to find out what they know about our country!
