Assembly 29th August 2022

This weeks Assembly

At Assembly this week we celebrated the first Gold awards of this session.

We talked about what was happening this week in Chatelherault Primary.

We also discussed the ABCD of Rights and our Rights for August.

Article 1: Everyone under 18 has these rights

Article 3: All adults should do what is best for children and young people.

 

Assembly 24th Jan 2022

At this week’s assembly we discussed Article 9: You have the right to a name and a nationality.

We learned about Robert Burns and how he is still celebrated in Scotland for his poetry and his songs.

On Tuesday there will be a Virtual Taste of Burns and each class will contribute to the Virtual celebration of all things Scottish.

HT Awards 24th Jan

Assembly 17th January 2022

At this week’s assembly, pupils discussed the small changes they had made to improve their physical and mental health.

Some children were trying to be more active by keeping their steps up or getting outside more; some children were thinking more about the type of food they were eating. Quite a few children mentioned that they were trying to use their digital devices less frequently to improve their mental health.

We also discussed the right of the month, Article 19: You have the right to be protected from being hurt or mistreated, in body and in mind.

We thought about ways in which the adults in school help to ensure all children in Chatelherault Primary School are supported in experiencing this right.

Room 13 carried out a Learning Walk around the school last week. They saw children engaged in their tasks and learning in ways which looked fun and enjoyable. The children said they saw activities that they would like to have joined in with. They saw children learning about their rights.

The winners of the Anti-Bullyimg competition were shared  with everyone in school.

Finally, we heard about a range of Out of School Achievements.

Darcey joined the Scotland Development Squad for gymnastics, Daniel moved up a level in tennis Danielle achieved 2 medals in boxing and Ava & Zara passed their karate grading a to achieve purple and white belts.

Welcome to 2022

In this week’s assembly we reviewed the Right of the Month for DECEMBER.

Article 26: 

You have the right to help from the
government if you are poor or in need.

Values

We also discussed one of South Lanarkshire Council’s values, whichrelates to young people being healthy and active. We discussed ways of keeping ourselves physically healthy and mentally healthy.


For next week’s assembly challenge the children could think about making a small change in their life to improve their Health and Wellbeing or set a small achievable goal, they may even have made a NewYear’s resolution that is linked to improving their own physical or mental health. At next week’s assembly we will share these with others in our class.

At this week’s Assembly we heard about some of the the pledges each class has been making after last week’s Assembly, they included:

We also thought about how we have been learning about the UNCRC this session because our Right of the Month is Article 42: You have the right to know about the UNCRC. Children should learn about their rights and adults should learn about them too.

We celebrated the fantastic work of our learners by giving out the Head Teacher awards this week. You can see the people who were recognised for their achievements below.

We also heard about 2 girls who shared their super Out of School Achievements (OofS)

Holly Rm 13 moved up a grade in swimming and Sophie Rm 12 received a Swim Skills 1 awards.

Each class thought about their own behaviour relating to Climate Positive Actions

This Week’s Assembly

At this week’s assembly, Ella and Sophia (Room 15’s Eco Group representatives) spoke to the school about COP26 and the the Eco Group’s plan to support change which will impact positively on our climate. Each class will make an Eco pledge about small changes they can make.

The winner’s of last week’s Halloween Raffle were announced. Well done to Lyle in Rm 3, Alexa in Rm 17 and Eilidh in Rm 17.

We also thanked Miss Cunningham, Rm 18 and everyone else who helped to setup such a successful Halloween Spooky Woods Event on Friday.
