General Information
- Children should have a pair of indoor shoes that can be kept in school. This helps us keep our learning environment clean and tidy.
- Please ensure that all clothing, water bottles and lunch boxes are clearly named.

Our Sensory Gym days are Monday and Thursday.

Forest School takes place on a Monday morning with Mrs Lochhead. Please provide outdoor clothing and appropriate footwear for your child to change into.
- We will use diaries to communicate with parents and carers and keep you updated on the learning and fun we have been having in class each day!
Classroom Charter
Chatelherault is proud to be a Gold Rights Respecting School. This year, we have been learning about our rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
In Room 7, we explored some of our rights in ways that are meaningful and accessible to us, including the right to have a voice, the right to learn and the right to play. We used visuals, choices, communication and practical activities to help us understand that everyone has rights and that every voice matters.
Inspired by Rights Kites, we worked together to create our Room 7 Class Charter. Each child created their own kite to represent themselves and their place within our class.
Our Class Charter reminds us that we all have rights, every voice matters and we can help to respect the rights of others. 🪁
August-October
So far this term, the children have been busy settling into Room 7, getting to know one another and becoming familiar with our classroom routines.
Our topic this term has been Ourselves. We have been learning about our names, bodies, feelings and the things we like. The children have created their own ‘All About Me’ posters and explored body parts through movement, art, songs and practical activities. We have also been learning to recognise and communicate happy and sad feelings.
In literacy, we have been learning to recognise, build and write our names. We have also explored new letters and sounds through stories, matching games, mark-making, fine motor skills and practical activities.
In numeracy, we have been practising counting one object at a time, recognising and ordering numbers and building number sequences. The children have developed these skills through ICT, concrete materials, hands-on sensory activities and outdoor learning.
Communication is an important part of everything we do in Room 7. The children have been making choices, expressing their preferences and using our Core Words of the Week throughout the day. Forest School, Sensory Gym and Cosy Café have also provided valuable opportunities to develop confidence, independence and everyday skills.
