General Information
- Children must have a pair of indoor shoes kept in school. This helps us to keep our learning environment nice and tidy.
- Please ensure all items of clothing/water bottles/lunch boxes are named clearly.
- PE days: Tuesday and Friday. Please remember to bring appropriate gym/indoor shoes on these days.
- Forest School: Tuesday. Please ensure your child brings old outdoor clothing, a jacket and appropriate footwear(outdoor shoes or wellies), that you do not mind getting muddy!
- Homework: This will be issued on a Monday and should be returned on a Friday. Reminders and weekly events will be on Google Classroom on a Monday. All resources for homework will be in your child’s homework folder. If you require a paper copy, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
- Homework Diaries: There will be a weekly comment about behaviour, work or effort each week in the diary. Parents/carers should discuss this with the child when the diary comes home on a Monday and then add your comment.
Class Charter
Chatelherault is proud to be Gold Rights Respecting School. This year, we have been learning about our rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). We have explored a range of children’s rights, including Article 12-the right to be heard, We discussed what our rights mean and how we can respect the rights of others in our classroom.
Inspired by The Rainbow Fish, we worked together to create our Primary 2 Class Charter. Every child created their own unique rainbow fish, ensuring that everyone was represented and had a part in creating our charter.
Together we agreed on actions we can take to make Primary 2 a happy, safe, kind and respectful place to learn. Our Class Charter reminds us all that we have rights, every voice matters, and we all have a part to play in respecting the rights of others!
August-October 2026
We are off to a great start in Primary 2! They have settled well into their new class and have been busy learning, exploring and becoming familiar with our new routines. We have been learning about our Meta-Skills, with a particular focus on communication, creativity, collaboration and focusing. The children have enjoyed opportunities to work together, share their ideas, listen to others and develop their confidence as learners.
In Literacy, we have been learning new sounds and common words. This is helping us with our reading fluency. We have also been practising writing our full names and developing our reading and comprehension skills. We have been focusing on making predictions, using clues from our book to think about what might happen. Primary 2 have been working extremely hard!
In Numeracy and Maths, we have been developing our understanding of numbers to 100, patterns and 2D shapes. We have also been learning about odd and even numbers. We have especially loved skip counting through songs, games and practical activities!
Forest School
We have had lots of fun exploring our woodland area during our Forest School Time! We have enjoyed getting creative in the mud kitchen, taking part in scavenger hunts and making bird feeders to care for the wildlife around us. Through our outdoor learning, we have been developing our creativity, teamwork, problem-solving and independence, while having lots of fun exploring nature!
