🌟 Welcome to Room 11 — Primary 3! 🌟
General Information
👟 Indoor & Outdoor Shoes Please make sure your child has a pair of indoor shoes (plimsolls or trainers) to change into when they arrive at school. Outdoor learning and time in the woods can make outdoor shoes muddy, and we want to keep our carpets clean. Our House Captains will carry out spot checks — wearing indoor shoes helps earn House Points.
🏃♂️ P.E. Days — Tuesday & Friday Children should bring their P.E. kit on these days:
- Blue polo shirt
- Navy or black shorts
If your child wears plimsolls indoors, they may bring separate trainers for P.E. as the hall floor can be slippy. Please note: Crocs cannot be worn as gym shoes.
💧 Water Bottles Children are encouraged to bring water to stay hydrated throughout the day. Water is the healthiest option, so please avoid juice in bottles. If juice is brought in, it can be taken at break and lunch only. If a child needs water during class time, they can get a cup from the office.
📘 Homework & Diary
📝 Homework Homework is issued every Monday and can be returned any time during the week. All homework should be handed in by Friday. If homework cannot be completed, please write a short note in the diary — life gets busy and that’s okay.
Children are encouraged to take pride in their homework, just as they do in class.
📖 Weekly Diary Comments Each week, your child and I will add a comment about their behaviour, work, or effort. Please read and discuss this with your child when the diary comes home on Monday, then add your own comment.

✨ Meta‑Skills
This month, we have been learning all about meta‑skills — the important skills that help us learn, think and grow. We have been exploring:
- Focusing – paying attention and staying on task
- Creativity – thinking in new and imaginative ways
- Initiative – trying things independently and having a “give it a go” attitude
Parents / carers: please ask your child about these skills and how they have been using them in the classroom. They love sharing what they’ve been learning.
🌲 Forest Schools
Every Thursday, between break and lunch, we head to the woods for our Forest School sessions. Please remember:
- Outdoor clothing
- A change of old shoes
- We go out in all weather — even cold and rain!
These sessions are child‑led, giving children the chance to explore, problem‑solve and develop a wide range of skills through hands‑on experiences in nature. The children absolutely love their time in the woods.
