Welcome to Primary 2!

General Information

Please ensure your child has a pair of indoor shoes in school. They will change into these when entering the school building.
If your child is bringing a bottle to school, we would encourage this to be water only
Please ensure names are on all clothing, shoes and water bottles
Our PE days are a Monday and Thursday.
Our Forest School Day will be on a Friday with Mrs Lochhead. Please provide outdoor clothing and appropriate footwear for your child to change into and that you do not mind getting muddy!

Homework

We will use homework diaries to communicate with parents and carers. Homework will be issued on a Monday and will be due in by Friday each week.
All information will be on google classroom, however if you require a paper copy, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
All materials will be found in the children’s homework folder.
A comment about our behaviour, work or effort will be added each week in the diary. Parents / Carers should discuss this with the child when the diary comes home on a Monday and then add your comment.

Everyone has settled in well to Primary 2. Here’s an insight into the fantastic learning P2 have been doing so far!

Forest School

We have had lots of fun exploring our woodland area during our Forest School time! At the moment we are working towards our RSPB Bronze award, for this we had been looking some of the different types of birds that live in our forest, last week we heard a Goldcrest, a Eurasian Blackcap and a Chiffchaff – we always end our forest school sessions listening to the birds.

Part of our award is also to see the types of minibeasts in our forest and to create habitats for them. We have been busy building bug hotels and habitat heeps, we think you’ll agree they are amazing!

Numeracy

In Numeracy, we have covered an array of topics! We have been learning about number sequencing and addition to 20. We have also enjoyed learning about 2D shape and data handling!

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been making wonderful progress! We learn new sounds and common words every week. This is helping us with our reading fluency. We have also been learning about different reading strategies. Primary 2 have been working extremely hard!
