Trampet

On Monday in P.E we were using the Trampet. The Trampet is basically a small trampoline that you run up to , bounce, and if you want do a 360 or different shapes in the air.The P7’s were allowed to do a 360 or a 180 if they wanted to.The P5s and 6s had to do either a star shape, a tuck, or a straight shape. Ireally enjoyed it and I am excited to continue doing it in P.E.

WW2 Shelters

This week we have been learning loads about World War Two but this is about the WW2 shelters.

We got to make our own Shelters with lots of useful things like cardboard and paint and sellotape.

We also did a lesson in the afternoon about the WW2 shelters what we did is we put the chairs in a circle and our teacher Miss Calvert told us a lot of facts about the shelters in WW2. But every 5 to 10 minutes there would be a WW2 bombing siren that went off and we would have to go under the tables we used them as shelters. There was the Morrison shelter, the Anderson shelter and the underground shelter.

I thought it was really fun!

Our visit from the Scalloway Fire Festival

Today we had a visit from the Scalloway Fire Festival’s Jarl Squad.

Two people from our school were in it and their big sister as well. Erin from our class and Danny from P345. Erin said there was about 50 people in the Jarl Squad so it was quite claustrophobic in the hall.

The men/boys wore a black tunic a shield and an axe. The men also wore a reindeer skin and the boys wore a blue sheep skin. The girls wore a blue dress and a grayish cloak and four of them held a banner saying “Scalloway Fire Festival” .

Ben Kay

This is Ben here. I used to be in P6 at Tingwall but I moved to Australia last year. I am  going to tell you what its like down under.

It is usually hot about 30 Degrees Celsius, pretty nice temperature right? My favourite part of living in Australia is the weather!

The sea is nice to cool off on hot days, you can also surf, boogie board or just swim.

My house is very cool and big. We have a pool and live close to the beach.

There are lots of dangerous animals in Australia like Salt Water Crocodiles, Jellyfish, Spiders and Sharks!

Our WW2 Topic

This term our topic is World War II.

This week we have been learning about how the war started and the countries involved and what side they were on.

The war started because The Nazi’s invaded Poland, Britain and France immediately declared war on Germany. The two sides were called the Allies and The Axis. The main countries in the Allies were Britain, France, Soviet Union (Russia) and USA. The Axis were Germany, Italy and Japan.

Some of us made WWII airplanes, we also started our Personal Projects about WWII.

The Winners Are…

As our Board Game Challenge was a competition, we got different awards for what we had done well during the challenge.

The Fire Wolves won the “Best Board Game Idea” as they came up with a very original and exciting board game concept that the P345s absolutely loved!

The Fire Dragons won the award for “Most Creative Team” as they has such creative ideas for their “sinking” board game and created a wonderful advert.

The Musical Dogs won their award for “Best Team” as they were the team that worked the best together and showed great cooperative learning skills and teamwork.

Team Noel won the award for “Best Product”. They worked very hard to create a finished product of their board game that would be good enough to sell in shops tomorrow, complete with a 3D Santa’s Grotto.

Ducks R Us won the award for “Best Advert”. They worked very hard to create a cheesy and cheerful advert that showed exactly what their board game was about and why people should buy it!

And the Winning Team for the whole challenge was DLAKE Ltd. They worked very well together  to create an exciting and easy to play board game. They worked very hard with their presentations, budgets and market research.

The Apprentice Board Game Challenge

P567 decided to do something a little different at the end of term. We decided that we would have a day spent like an “Apprentice” Challenge.

We were split into Cooperative Learning groups to form our teams. We had to decide who was our Project Manager and then split our teams into sub teams: the Advertising Team and the Design Team.

We had to do market research to find out what board games people would like to buy or what are their favourite types of board games. We asked members of staff, the P12 pupils and the P345 pupils.

We then had to decide our board game name and what it would be about.

The Design Teams then started to create our board games by using cardboard, printing question cards, making dice and using paint to make it colourful and bright.

The Advertising Team had to create a poster and then write an TV commercial to advertise their product. They then used props, the spare classroom, iMovie on an iPad and some of their group members, to create the advert. We all think iMovie is a great app for filming as our adverts look amazing! We definitely want to use iMovie again!

Christmas Cracker

We then presented our adverts and board games to the P345 class. They also got a chance to play some of our games. They all had really nice things to say about our board games!

Christmas Hats

On Thursday, we made mini Christmas Hats out of wool. They are very small and cute. They are so small that we even made some for minions and some of our pets!

You have to be very patient and concentrate. It is easy but a bit time consuming.

Below you can see two little minions modelling our hats!
