The Stars came out for Christmas!

On the 11th of December, we performed our Christmas show: “The Stars come out for Christmas”

Some of the songs were:

  • Boogie Woogie Santa
  • Why Won’t It Snow
  • Christmas Dinner is a Winner
  • Send Me on My Way (Christmas Cards)
  • Silent Night
  • The Stars Come Out for Christmas
  • Christmas Trees
  • Away in a Manger
  • We wish you a Merry Christmas

There were a lot of people in the audience, it was queued out the door!

It went very smoothly! It lasted 50 minutes. Nobody forgot what to do and we all sung very well!

The message of the show was that all the different parts of Christmas (like Trees, Santa, Cards, Snow, Dinner) are all important but we must not forget the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

Parents were generous enough to help us tidy up the hall afterwards. Thanks for the help!

The audience absolutely loved Tom’s part and his “rubbish”  jokes.

We all had different costumes, such as Timon’s tuxedo, Christmas pudding hats, Kyle’s Santa outfit, Liam’s Snowman suit and Tom’s leather jacket.

It’s beginning to look like Christmas!

We have been very busy with our Christmas Show rehearsals so haven’t had any time to make Christmas decorations but we have managed to start making our classroom look Christmassy!

We all helped put up our tree and decorate it! Doesn’t it look lovely?

We have our class advent calendar which we take turns in opening every day as well as hearing the Christmas jokes on Newsround.

Our P7s have also created a rota to hand out Christmas cards that any pupils post in the postbox. They enjoy delivering the cards like Postmen!

Christmas Jokes

We have been watching the Newsround Christmas Joke Advent Calendar everyday! Some of the jokes are funny and some are pretty terrible! We thought we could do better!

In our show, there is a character who tells rubbish jokes that everyone has heard before and gets fed up of. So we decided to record a video of some of these jokes.

Instruction Writing

This week we were learning how to write instructions. Last week we learned what happened at an Aztec Sacrifice, then we wrote what to do. When we were done we wrote a recipe. I wrote how to make Spaghetti Bolognese.

We learned what to use when we are writing instructions. Bossy verbs were one of the things we learned. Bossy verbs (imperative) are telling people to do something like “go do this” or “go there now”. Another thing we learned was you need to write down what you will need to succeed. I really enjoyed writing instructions.

SSPCA visit

We got a visit from the SSPCA and if you do not know what that stands for its the Scottish Society Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. They came to speak to us about looking after our pets. We have to take them to the vets and feed them properly. They said they get 500 calls a day about animal abuse.

We think this is very sad and that everyone should take care of animals!

Clay-Art

In Art on Friday the 28th of November we were working with clay.

We had multiple choice of what we could actually make, you could make a sheep pot, a fish, a turamundi pot or an African mask.

I made a sheep pot, first you have to make a sphere with the clay, next you have to make a big hole in the clay so it looks like a pot, the you turn it upside down and you get small pieces of clay, roll them out and stick them on the pot. We never got any farther then that.

I enjoyed making the sheep pots and I look forward to doing it next week. 🙂

Awards this week

Our Star Writers this week were Kara and Rebecca. They both got the award as they worked together to write a “Creation Story” about the Robbin Red Breast. We first learned about creation stories or myths when a storyteller called Ruth Kirkpatrick came in and shared some of these stories.  Well done girls!

Our Star of the Week was Ryan. He got his award for answering lots of tricky times table questions and always working very hard in maths. Well done Ryan!
