P1/2 Reflective Friday – May Miss McNally

P1/2 have been very busy this month! We have really enjoyed Health week as we had the opportunity to try cheerleading and cricket! We also made sandwiches/rolls for our whole school picnic.

We also had another picnic this month….a teddy bear picnic! This was in aid of St. Andrews hospice and was so much fun.  We also enjoyed a samba drums workshop earlier in the month. In literacy, we are working hard on our sounds, reading and writing and in Numeracy, we are having great fun making different patterns.

P1/2 Make Jelly!

The boys and girls in primary 1/2 have been very busy learning about food and cooking. We have discussed our likes and dislikes when it comes to food, the different tastes and textures of food and  food for special occasions. We decided that jelly can make an excellent  and delicious desert for special occasions and  so, we decided to make it!

Before we began cooking we designed our very own chef hats with our favourite types of food.

Then, we learned about the rules of cooking and how to be safe in the kitchen. Click on the link below to hear some of the P1/2 children explaining our simple guide to staying safe and hygienic when cooking.  https://vocaroo.com/i/s0aVzWfZjSVB

If you would like to learn how to cook jelly, then you can listen to our simple instructions….

P1/2 February Reflection

Wow, what a day! Primary 1/2 really enjoyed our Pyjama day and our cosy movie afternoon. It was a great way to end a wonderful month.

This month we have really been enjoying PE, where we have been doing gymnastics and learning fundamental skills with Mr Mitchell. We are also still enjoying our topic of journeys and in Religion we are learning lots about Lent.

But our favourite day of all was Global Play day! We had so much fun playing inside and out.

P1/2 January

Primary 1/2 are excited to be back after Christmas! We are refreshed and ready to learn. We are really enjoying our new topic Journeys! We created beautiful hot air balloons and had great fun talking about where we would go if we had one in our class for real.

We also read about the Gruffalo and wrote stories about the Gruffalo and the mouse. Our star writers were Arnas, Sophia, Sadia, Sienna and Ouday…well done!

Congratulations also to our merit winners this month pictured below…

Lots of the boys and girls in P1/2 have also been working hard on their maths using Studyladder and Sumdog. They have achieved lots of study ladder certificates and are reallly enjoying the Sumdog after school club.

P1/2 Ready for Christmas

We have been very busy in P1/2 over the past few weeks. Our class plants have grown so much….just like us!

We are really looking forward to Christmas…. we created beautiful Advent wreaths, Christmas trees and Christmas cards. We also wrote our letters to Santa. The star writers were Sienna, Mikey, Sophie-Jane, Hollie and Sophia… well done!

Nativity

A huge well done to P1-3 for three brilliant performances of their Holy Joe Nativity play! On Monday, P4-7 and the children from Mossend nursery were treated to the first performance.  On Tuesday and Wednesday , the children performed for their parents and families.  We can see how much hard work has gone into preparing the nativity.  Congratulations to all of our P1-3 children!
