  1. Best days of my life at Holy Family. (1962-1970) My brother and sisters all attended around same time. Miss Lynus and Mr Dolan were head teachers then !! Just feeling a little sentimental in the knowledge that this great institution is still alive and kicking. What a start in life ! Hope the pupils appreciate it and its history.

    Thanks for the memories
    Joe

SPRING INTO NEXT TERM WITH AFRICAN ARTS WORKSHOPS…
    To the Headteacher,
Hello. We are ZAMBLE AFRICAN DANCE COMPANY. We perform and teach African dance and drumming in schools in the UK. We also perform in any kind of school festivals or celebrations, and we are happy to propose tailor-made packages for special school projects. .Learn more about what we do by visiting our website:
are our most popular workshops, and the price you see is the price you pay!
For our one and two-day workshops, there’s no transport or accommodation costs to add.
All Day School Package, with dance tutor and live drummer £650-00
    (4 x 1hr sessions + 30 min school assembly performance)
The all-day school package typically consists of 4 x 1hr dance workshop sessions, each with up to 40 students, plus a 30 minute school assembly performance. This can be either at the start of the day, as a demonstration by our team, or at the end, to include the students who have taken part in the workshops during the day.
We send a team of two: a dance tutor and a drum accompanist, who will lead each session through introductions and warm-up using traditional West African moves, then teach the group a number of moves taken from a traditional dance, building to a short dance sequence. On the way, the group will learn about the drum and its rhythms and cues, as well as having a couple of breathers, which the team use to explain a bit about West Africa and its culture.
We may also do a bit of singing or call & response, and the sessions are lively and very participative.
In terms of session sizes and lengths, we do recommend a maximum of 40 students per session. If schools have a large number of students, then sometimes they prefer to run with
5 x 45 minute sessions across the day to accommodate more students. We’re happy to be flexible to fit in with your needs and the flow of your school day.
If you can let us have a proposed outline timetable for your day, that creates a great basis for us to work together. We hope that’s enough information on how the workshop sessions run. But any other questions, just ask!
