Room 3

We had a fantastic time on our recent school trip to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum!

During our tour of the museum, the children explored different areas of the museum and had the opportunity to look and learn about a variety of animals. They were excited to spot familiar animals and discover new and unusual ones too! We talked about where the animals come from and what makes them special. The children asked thoughtful questions and showed great curiosity as they explored.

One of the highlights of our visit was a fantastic workshop all about expressions and emotions. The children learned how we can tell how someone is feeling by looking at their facial expressions. They explored different emotions such as happiness, sadness, surprise and anger and discussed times when they might feel these emotions.

As part of the workshop, the children created their own expressive faces using clay. They carefully shaped eyes, mouths and eyebrows to show different feelings. We were so impressed with their creativity and the thoughtful way they represented emotions through their designs!

In school, we continued our creative learning by making beautiful Valentine’s Day cards. The children worked hard on their designs, showing care and creativity. It was lovely to see them taking pride in their work.

In maths, we have been working hard on subtraction within 5. The children have been using concrete materials, number lines and cubes to help them take away and find the answers.

In literacy, we have been consolidating the different sounds we have learnt during the past 2 weeks. The class are showing increased confidence with their sounds and applying this to their work.

It has been a very busy and exciting week, filled with creativity and lots of learning. Thank you for your continued support, we love sharing these special experiences with you!

I hope you all have a lovely February weekend.

Room 11 Sending lots of love

Room 11 got creative this afternoon making lots of different Valentines crafts and cards.  We started off looking at some ideas on Pinterest and then chose what resources we needed to make the craft of our choice.  It was really interesting seeing all the different ideas that everyone had and using their own creativity to come up with something unique.

We also loved our weekly dictation and chilli challenge with lots of us getting house points for full marks 🙂

Room 8

Hello from room 8!

I’m sure that you all know by now how much fun we had on our trip to Hampden last week. We started the day by walking to Newton train station and got on the train to Mount Florida. Once we arrived at Mount Florida station we met the lovely Suzie, who works for the charity Rail74, an amazing charity who has a main focus of supporting the delivery of community benefits though the medium of innovative projects within the surrounding communities of the rail stations and rail passengers. They very kindly funded our train adventure and gifted us with railway passports which I can’t wait to see the children get use out of! You can find more information about Rail74’s work on their website or through their twitter (@rail74crp).

Once we got to Hampden, we received football coaching, a museum tour and a stadium tour. We were absolutely exhausted by the time we had walked back to school!

Well done to every single child for the exceptional behaviour and manners shown on the school trip, we definitely displayed our school values and are PROUD!
